im due 8/18 - have a wedding 8/8 - dont know what to do
im 37 weeks pregnant, im already 2cm dilated, due on the 18th, and i have a wedding of a close friend on the 8th. i realllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllly want to go BUT i just dont know if there is a point. Her final count is due tomorrow, and im also going to my doc tom so ill see if i made any more progress since last week.
im just debating, if i should tell her that ill come --- and if i give birth early then ill send a gift, or just tell her that i dont feel up to it so if i do give birth there arent 2 empty spots at our table but go to church anyway with a gift.....
im sooo torn.
plus i know we wont be dancing our butts off, DH won't drink, Ill probably want to go to sleep after i eat at the cocktail hour BUT at the same time, i've had a great pregnancy i feel great, i want to eat good food (jericho terrace) and i cant wait for the vienesse table & i really want to see my friend celebrate her day
WHAT TO DOOOOOOOOOO????????????
ETA: I just emailed her asking what time she's going to JT with the final count - and she said - YOU ARE ON THE LIST - NO MATTER WHAT - TALK TO VICTORIA TO STAY IN THERE A LITTLE MORE!!!!!!!!!

Go! If you're having a baby, in the hospital or just home from the hospital obviously your friend will understand. If none of the above apply what are you going to do - sit on your couch instead? Might as well sit at the reception and celebrate the day with your friend.

Is it a night wedding? If so, I would decline. I know that in my 39th week with DS, I was EXHAUSTED and could not have made it to a Viennese hour no matter how much I rested during the day...
I'm sure your good friend will understand.

I would most def. go, but just not stay the whole time, I am sure she will understand but if it was a good friend I would go.

I would tell your friend not to keep you in the count, but have a table available where she could add you and your dh if you end up being able to make it...JT will always charge her for the extra plates, but won't credit her if you don't show up.

Honestly, I went to a wedding 6 days before I gave birth (38+ weeks) and danced all night. I had a blast and felt great. Unless there is a medical condition (or any uncomfortablness) prohibiting you from going, I would go and have fun!

i say tell her yes. im sure they will understand if u cant make it. plus this is ur last few days to leave the house with out the baby take advantage of it if you feel good i would go.
im in the same boat as u and if i had a wedding i would go bc i know with the lil guy i wont have time to go anywhere.

I have a wedding of a close friend 5 days before my DD. I am going as long as I am not in labor. She knows the possibility exists that I may not make it. I figure it's not too far away from the hospital. I say go and have fun!

I agree. Just let her know beforehand. It's not a big deal to add you if you do decide to go, but if you and your DH RSVP yes and then can't attend that's 2 extra plates they have to cover.

tell her to tell the hall NO, just in case - so they don't charge her for you, but if you do end up making it, they'll make room for you that day.

She could always add you at the last minute but if she pays for you in advance she will not get the money back. So tell her not to put you down and if you feel good the day before tell her to make the phone call and add you then. They could even add you the day of, they are used to these things at the big catering halls (people unexpectedly showing up and them having to add discretely). I got married there and they are very good about these things.
Another option is tell your friend not to add you, but that you will definitely go to cocktail hour and stay for her entrance. This way she does not even have to pay for your seats just in case. I may do this at a wedding I have around my due date. If you are close to her she will just be happy you are going to try to come for a few.

i would go. i worked up until my due date so going to a wedding almost 2 weeks before that wouldn't have been a big deal. if you go into labor before then, i'm sure your friend will understand

For a very close friend, I'd want to be there for her.
I agree with Shorty - have her tell the hall No for you, so she doesn't get stuck paying. She may have some last minute cancellations, and you can take their spot. And if she has full attendance and you show up, the hall will make room for you.
I would def. have my bags packed, and come to terms with the fact that I might be too tired to stick around for the viennese hour. Heck, I'd treat myself to some fancy deserts from a good bakery the day before just so I don't miss out!
