I'm seriously losing it
I don't know where my happy little girl went. I still see glimpses now and then, but for the past few days it's just been meltdown after meltdown. Right now she's crying in her crib and it's breaking my heart. I don't know if it's from her teething - 2 bottom molars look like they're in, but the top 2 are still coming through. The Hyland's teething gel was helping for awhile, but now she just chomps down (hard) on my finger and freaks out even more. Or maybe it's the terrible 2's starting. Or maybe she is sick, but she doesn't appear to have a fever (it's been impossible to try to take her temperature.) I just really don't know what to do anymore. The only way to stop the meltdown seems to be to hold her but only while I'm standing up. God forbid I sit down. She's over 25 lbs. I can only stand with her for so long. DH is away for work (again) until Friday. I just don't know what to do anymore. I feel like such a failure. I hate to see her like this. Maybe I should take her to the doctor to make sure nothing's wrong. I'm not sure what I'm looking for here - any advice? hugs? HELP me!!!

I think it is the terrible two's starting. Let her CIO for a few minutes and than go in and comfort her and tell her how you feel (whether she understands or not).

Re: I'm seriously losing it
She definately sounds in pain. How about a little Motrin and oralgel? Tylenol never works for Grace when she is teething.
I hope she feels better and stops the crying.

Re: I'm seriously losing it
I could of written that myself..Today we were in Gymboree and both of them were screaming and carrying on..All the other moms were looking at me like I had the worse kids. I had to pick them both up and carry them out while they were kicking and Screaming..what a nightmare..I'm so glad i spent the money for them to act like that..I am so drained from them and from today. When you find out what is going on let me know. hang in there..Sometimes i feel like my girls are ganging up on me and they want to see which one can be the one that acts up the most.

I'm so sorry, you are NOT a failure! I would try some Tylenol. Are her gums very inflamed? Let her chew on a frozen washcloth. Poor baby. She is probably overtired at this point too. I hope she falls asleep soon.

Re: I'm seriously losing it
Jack is going through the same thing right now. He is 21 months old and he has maybe 1 tooth that hasn't come in but he whines and cries like he's teething. I dont want to keep giving him meds to try and sooth him but I can't figure out why he is so upset. I dont even know if it's teething either. As far as having to hold her while you stand - I think they have a secret language and tell each other to do this in the hospital. Jack is the same way. Hang in there! This too shall pass.

Re: I'm seriously losing it
Thanks, Ladies. She finally fell asleep on me for half an hour. I couldn't put her down. The phone rang and woke her up. She was cranky again so I tried the motrin. It seems to be working. She's drinking her milk & eating a banana now watching tv. I hope these teeth finish coming in soon. All along she's handled teething so well. I guess the molars are really painful. we have had such a rough week +. Dh had the flu really bad, I had to cancel my weekend away, now Lily's been such a crank. I'm thankful she didn't catch the flu from DH. Hopefully she'll take a good afternoon nap.
