You are young, you have all of the time in the world!

Shouldn't you wait until you get whatever the issue of the day is in order? My health, money, etc.

Don't you want to enjoy time married? Um, yeah, we are married over a year and we have been living together for almost 3.

Directed at me, due to my RA-You are so sick, maybe you shouldn't get pregnant. Why don't you look for a surrogate? You are just going to be too disabled anyway (love that one-the person who said it to me was lucky it was said in front of court officers with guns and handcuffs).


You do know that you have to take care of children (the IL's love this one)-umm, I am an attorney who defends neglected children, but I wouldn't know how to care for a child-like they need to eat and such.

sorry to crash.....after my m/c I've been hearing so many of the ones listed above.....but this one really got to me, just heard it last week:

me talking to former co-worker: "so when we're ready we're going to try again"

him: "what don't you WANT kids???"

um yeah, I'd say we want kids since I was just PREGNANT you a*s hat!!!! some people don't get it that you have to wait until you've healed emotionally/physically.

I honestly would rather not hear any comments at all if I have to hear people scramble for silly or insensitive things like what's been posted above, b/c I've heard most of them and they all iritate the crap out of me!!

yeah I got the health one a few years ago from my cousin.

Maybe you are going through enough...

So people with conditions shouldn't have a kid?

I have clotting and autoimmune issues. A "friend" told me maybe that was God's way of telling me I shouldn't have kids.

I've heard it all, all of the above. But what bothers me the most lately are the adoption suggestions, "why don't you just adopt" and like Shannon said "adopt and then you'll get pregnant".
Like it is so easy.

Easy to say for people with a bunch of kids. Thanks for the great advice.

I ALWAYS got the, "you're soooo young" BS, and my FAVORITE was 2 different doctor's actually said to me-

"You know, a baby is not a dress up doll- you have to take care of it all the time."

Yeah, Moron. I am at this 3+ years already. How is my waiting going to make this any easier later on when the statistics are even less favorable?!

My (paternal) grandmother asked my mother why this was so important to me.

Um! If it wasn't important enough to us to go through this, then we shouldn't be having kids in the first place. There might be less child abuse in the world if more people had to WORK like we do to achieve a pregnancy.

Today the NP who did my IUI asked if DH and I just got married.

I'm 41..no married 11 years thank you..just took our time.

Thanks for reminding me that I shouldn't have waited.

We'll we are just married 16 months. Unfortunately, I met my DH later in life.

My favorites when going through IF were "Relax and it will happen", "Lose some weight and it will happen", and "Stop trying so hard and it will hapen". After my m/c's my favorite was "At least you know you can get PG".

A good friend of mine has been through 4 IUI's and 2 IVF's. We were talking about what we've both been doing recently and she told me , "You're so young. Give it time. Don't stress and then you'll get PG."

I really thought she of all people would understand.
