i'm so anxious.. breastfeeding related

I am going away without the baby in 3 weeks. We are going to Mexico and my DH is too afraid of the health risks to bring himChat Icon .. anyway, the baby won't breastfeed for 8 days and i'm so afraid he won't take to it again when i get home. It's making me so anxious and so depressed that i'm dreading this much needed vacation with my other kids. Chat Icon Please tell me someone has had experience with getting thier baby back on the breast after not being on... he's 10 weeks old now and he has only had a couple of bottles so far

I know Porrus went away for a while and had the same fears and her daughter latched right back on. YOu can try FMing her.

If its any consolation I didn't get Alexa INITIALLY to latch until she was just about 8 weeks old!!!

I think you will be fine. Just keep pumping to maintain your supply and try and relax, remember stress will decrease your supply!!

Hey Kristi,

About 2 months ago, I had a really bad kidney infection, and I had to go on a hefty antibiotic that prevented me from BF for 10 days. I was absolutely devastated and thought that was the end of our BF days.

Ryleigh was on Good Start for 10 days, and we also used up my frozen stash, about 150 oz. During those 10 days, I kept pumping (and dumping Chat Icon), and the day I was given the go-ahead to continue BF, I put her to the breast, she looked at me kinda funny Chat Icon and then she latched right back on. No problems whatsoever.

Go and enjoy your vacation...I'll be willing to bet you'll have no problems upon your return Chat Icon
