I would have to guess that many of us have had those moments. We are human as well. Although they are children we (parents) are people too and get really overwhelmed.

By all of your posts, not even knowing you personally, I can tell that you love Ava so so much and are a great mom.

Don't let it get to you too long - tomorrow is another day and it will be a good one.

Thank you, girls. I'm still on the verge of tears over here. It's not that I yelled at her that makes it so bad, it's the look she gave me that is burned into my head. I mean, I've yelled at her plenty of times before, but I REALLY yelled at her, and she looked so shocked and scared that it broke my heart. And then when I started to cry after she was calm, she kept saying, "Don't cry mommy, it's ok." Ugg, talk about break my heart

I know for a fact that you are not a horrible mommy. You are a fantastic one! We all have bad days. I hope tomorrow will be better.

Won't tell you not to beat yourself up since you will anyhow. But we have all been there. My DD is very challenging and stubborn. I have also yelled at my DD so badly once that both of us ended up crying hysterically. Its the worst feeling and I feel so badly for you right now.

But you are not a horrible mother; just a human one.

We all have times when we will lose it. I promise you are not alone. I wish I had words to help you feel better. Just remember that tomorrow is another day and you can start over.

We are only human, we have bad days, and as much as we love them....they do get on our nerves from time to time..

Rach- IT HAPPENS and you know it. You know yoru not the only person to ever lose their temper and wont be the last. Stop putting such guilt on yourself.

we have been there....I feel so bad when I yell at matthew when he is having a temper tantrum....it does NOT by all means make you a bad mom....you are a GREAT mom

Rach, we ALL go through these moments, including our very own parents. The key to being a good, loving mother is not having nerves of steel and never losing your patience with your child - this is HUMAN and you have to be forgiving of yourself! The key here is how you repair and connect with Ava after you make a bumble.

Whenever I lose patience with Alex, I always go back into her room, get eye level with her and explain how I'm sorry for raising my voice, and explain that mommy got angry, but it's not ok to yell when you get angry and that's why I'm apologizing. We hug, kiss... and move on.

Being a good mother doesn't mean being a person who never yells, never loses her patience and never gets frustrated. Being a good mother is showing your child that you ARE human and that sometimes even adults lose their cool, but no matter what, showing them you still love them and are sorry for yelling at them

You are a good mother that just had a moment that you regret...and no judgement there at all. Of all the things to lose control over...I can tell you that's no so bad.

As a child that was yelled the way you described on a regular basis...I can tell you that kids are forgiving...but if you sit an apologize to her and explain how what you did was not acceptable and that you love her very much...you'll mend any and all fears and sadness she might have experienced.
