Depends on what you are looking for- I loved living in Whitestone, because I had a lot of the advantages of the city (I could walk to take care of grocery shopping, library, most other errands), public transit was nearby, lots of great restaurants/takeout, lots of things to do. Yet it had a village-y, small town feel and I liked how it was a quiet area. However, sometimes I wished I was in a more "urban" part of Queens like Woodside or Astoria, two other neighborhoods I liked very much.

I lived in bayside and it was always considered Queens. Have never heard of it being called " long island queens" before ever.

To answer my own question I think Malba hands down is the best part of queens to live in. No other place in Queens comes close to touching it.

Between Whitestone and College point. Look it up on MLSLI. you won't find a house under 1 mil lol
anything "decent" is over 2 mil ( put decent in quotes b/c most houses are brand new practically mansions now )
Just a GORGEOUS area to live in. Right off the water by the bridge as well. They wanted to make it a gated community ( it is very small) but weren't able to.

I agree with all of the above, but must add my neighborhood since it wasn't mentioned...North Flushing/Broadway (right near borders of Bayside and Whitestone). Beautiful homes, right near a park, walking distance to LIRR, walk to pizzeria, stores, etc.

ETA...and we were recently named a "Historic District" whatever that means Chat Icon

I was going to bring this up. So many people forget about north flushing b/c it is just grouped with Flushing and gets a bad rap but it is BEAUTIFUL. We have relatives that live in the area and driving down some of the blocks you have a very LI suburban feel yet the conveniences and pros of being in queens. We love the area near bowne park beautiful homes!! ( I have also heard of the blocks surrounding bowne park referred to as Linden hill )

Well Malba yeah of course.....most people dont know about that area though.

As far as areas where "normal" people live if you know what I mean, Whitestone, Forest Hills, Bayside, Douglaston.

And that long island Queens thing must be some sort of realtor term because Ive lived in Queens my whole life and never heard of that.

I live in Bayside now and LOVE it. I have a lot of friends in the area now too. It has everything you need and only 20mins on LIRR to the city.
