Induction question

I may need to be induced but the thought of having a c-section scares me. Do most inductions lead to c-sections or can I be induced and still have a natural birth?

Re: Induction question

I know a number of people who were induced and had vaginal deliveries. I believe induction increases your chances of a c-section, but its not a guarantee you'll need one.

Re: Induction question

It may increase your chances of a c-section, but not ALL inductions end in a section.

I've had 2 successful inductions. For me, it was the bset decision ever.Chat Icon

Re: Induction question

Okay, good to know. Hopefully if I end up getting induced it will lead to a vaginal birth.

Re: Induction question

My induction went beautifully, and if my pelvis was big enough I would have had a vaginal delivery. A c section isnt the worst thing in the world, it was scary when the dr said I need one, but the actual procedure was not bad at all.

Try not to stress, an induction does not equal a c section.

Re: Induction question

I was induced and had a vaginal delivery.

The biggest thing for me was staying positive. I seemed to stay at 3cm for hours.....one of the nurses (not my favorite) kept telling me to ask my Dr. for a c-section. But I didn't want that!

At one point he came in, sat on the bed and asked me how I felt. I told him that I still felt like I could deliver vaginally and as long as the baby was OK, I didn't want to rush a section. Luckily he agreed. He kept telling me that he belived in me, and knew I could make it. That really helped me.

If it came down to my health or the babys health, I would have said go for the section right away!
