Inexpensive SAFE Convertible Car Seat
In my car, I have the Chicco Nextfit Convertible car seat. At first, we were going to use a hand me down car seat for DH's car, but after installing it neither of us feel it is as safe as the chicco. Since DS will rarely be in this seat (an occasional pick up from daycare like 1-2 times a month), we'd prefer not to spend $250+ on it. Does anyone has any economical convertibles that they'd recommend?
TIA

I just bought the graco contender, retails for $139.99. On amazon a few colors are cheaper. So far we really like it.

Cosco! It's rated very high and very inexpensive ($40-50 at Walmart). I use it occasionally in dh's car and for plane travel.

Graco contender is definitely a recommended choice! The cosco scenera next is as well but I don't believe it lasts as long as the contender.

The Cosco seats were so flimsy when I looked at them for an extra seat I was shocked.

Thanks for this info! That's why we don't want to use the hand me down!

We have one as an extra seat and I agree. It's only used once a month or so for a 3 minute drive so I go with it, buy I would never suggest it or buy another

Inexpensive SAFE Convertible Car Seat
I would think all new car seats are safety approved. I can't imagine anyone manufacturing or selling an UNSAFE car seat
I believe I have Eddie Bauer (got it at Target)

All car seats on the market are safe or else they wouldn't be on the market! There is no way to be able to tell or know which one is safer than another BC they either pass or fail. If they pass, they're sold. If not, then they are not sold.

I understand that they wouldn't sell an unsafe car seat, but I do think some seem flimsy in comparison to others.

Inexpensive SAFE Convertible Car Seat
I bought an Evenflo Triumph for our second car. I actually like it better than the $350 Britax we have. Its super plush, and the straps adjust so much easier.
