Inline High Ranch Owners ...

What is on your first floor?

We currently have a full bath, garage, one bedroom, our den, a large pantry, our boiler room, and our sunroom..

We are most likely going to be making a 3rd bedroom upstairs because IMHO I cannot see SD moving downstairs in the next 2-3 years (she's 6 now) - If anything - she would most likely move downstairs once shes like 13-18 (when shes going to want to have sleepovers and talk on the phone late at night and be on the computer without 'getting caught' KWIM?

I am entertaining the idea of opening up the wall in between the den and the LR or finding another use for this guest room... TIA

I have a wide line high ranch, but pretty much the same. My house is built a little different, because we are in a hilly area, and the lower half (what you call the first floor) is actually half underground!! So it's more basement like than anything. There is no exit out the back of the house - the exit is through the garage in the front, or up the stairs to the front door.

That said, we have a bedroom with closet, a den with fireplace (soon to be kids playroom area), a full bathroom (shower stall shower only), a laundry room (where the furnace is too) and a closet that is under the stairs. The entrance to the two car garage is also on this level.

We have 3 bedrooms "upstairs", so we toyed with the idea of knocking down the wall between the bedroom and den downstairs, and then ultimatley decided not to. It makes a perfect guest bedroom, and there is a full bath for guests to use as well. We will be furnishing it as a guest room and have it double as our office space.

We have a High Ranch but I've never heard of these terms (inline, wide line). What is the difference?

Re: Inline High Ranch Owners ...

In line would be the door and say one window on the front of the house. Wide line would be the door and two or three windows it looks wider. In line looks smaller from the front, but is not

inline is usually front to back and wide line is side to side.

This is a wide line high ranch: living area on left and bedrooms area on right

This is an inline or I've even heard them called A-line:

I have an in-line high ranch and on the lower level we have an office, a full bath, a huge family room (that runs the width of the house) the garage and a boiler room behind the garage. We have sliders out from the family room and door from the side of the house.

We have 3 bedrooms, a full bath, kitchen, dining room and living room on the upper floor.

Re: Inline High Ranch Owners ...

i think i have a wideline... our 1st floor has a half bath, our tv room/den, boiler/laundry room, a walk in closet and a "bedroom" that is our exercise room. so if you're asking what we use that bedroom for, we have an elliptical, sit up bench and boflex in there.
