Insurance stinks( my turn to vent)And update
Well mini update...
went to Dr's today and my cervix actually lengthened since last week, and found out last week was lower then we even thought, but its great news the rest worked at lengthing some!
I now get progesterone shots weekly to help prevent contractions.
Still have excess amniotic fluid , so weekly bio physicals on baby start Monday.
The Insurance Gripe- They denied future cervical sono's. Well not Oxford, their dumb med management company, saying after 26 weeks they arent needed. So apparently they feel its ok to give birth after 26 weeks with no warning.
Since Contractions and the FFN tests are not preventative, the cervical length is the only thing we have to go by....and now I have to find a way to appeal ( working on it) or pay $100 a week for them to the Dr. ( on top of my $40 a visit co pay, and I havent been working since Jan. ) ....Not sure financially it can be done...and it scares me.
Well thats my update...and my offical...insurance stinks vent! Thanks for listening!

Re: Insurance stinks( my turn to vent)And update
I feel for you...the insurance stuff really really stinks...I wouldnt worry to much about the cervical sonograms though..I know this is an "old" school thought but your cervix can be checked the "old fashioned" way with internals..so just check with your doctor regarding doing things that way.
I havent had any issues YET but this is my 4th pregnancy and I have cervix issues...(early effacement etc)..I personally havent seen a difference in care between things being done with the sonogram..or things done with the internal
I would also speak DIRECTLY to your doctor about this and explain the situation..I mean it doesnt cost him $100 to do the cervical length for you..perhaps he would simply accept the copay at payment in full..again I say to ask the doctor directly and not the ladies in front..I have always found that this is the way to go..

OMG, INSURANCE COMPANIES S U K!!!!!
it never ceases to amaze me how awful they are - and i deal with them constantly in my job, so you'd think i'd get immune...
on a happier note, glad to hear your cervix lengthened and that things are stable for you right now.
are the progesterone shots making the m/s worse?
about the weekly scans... not to be overly religious, but i truly believe God will provide... it will work itself out somehow (like the zofran pump ordeal).

I thought when you were pregnant, you didnt have to pay copays. I am sorry that you are going through this. Just so you know, one of the drs at my practice said that she would have never ordered a test of my cervical length after 30 weeks. She said that your cervix should be shortening (even though the others wanted them measured).

The copays are because this is the high risk peri( specialist)..not my OB...I dont pay co pays at my ob.
The issue with the cervix, is that mine went from a high stable reading to very low...I thought it was 3.0 , but it was actually much lower in a matter of 6 days. So yes its suppossed to shorten but not a whole cm in 6 days. And I guess b/c I have already had a pre term labor loss....
But thanks for the kind words all, your all right. It will be ok in the end. God will provide ( thanks Alex!)
