Interview Questions
I was reading this article on the Most Ridiculous Interview Questions.
In all the interviews I've conducted & been on, I've never been asked something over the top. In fact, the only question I ask that seems to get the candidate on a more personal level is "What was your favorite job & why?"
Previously I've asked their experience with working with difficult people & how they handled it.
What have you been asked that you found strange?

Re: Interview Questions
I was interviewing at a Venture Capital firm and the CEO asked me what was my favorite movie. Apparently I didn't get it right.. I didn't get the job.
The headhunter told me he would ask me stuff like that and I found out later he was looking for a mini-me.
I dodged that bullet. They also wanted me to learn Italian.

Re: Interview Questions
In law school, I participated in the schools on campus recruiting program and during 1 interview with a prominent corporate law firm, the guy picked up my transcript and saw a bad grade in one class and took his pen, circled it and asked "So I see here you got a C in this course. How come?"
Ugh. The rest of the interview went downhill from there.

Re: Interview Questions
I had an interviewer ask me if I had/planned on having kids because the last person in the position "ended up getting pregnant on her and she didn't feel like filling the position again."
This wasn't recently, but I know it is so illegal.

Re: Interview Questions
Do you have children? I was asked this by a panel of 4 men in a career that is male dominated.

Re: Interview Questions
I was never asked this, but I know someone who was.
The question:
"When you go on vacation, do you like to relax or explore and be on an adventure?"
the theory is that if you answer that you'd prefer to relax, it shows you're a hard worker and NEED to unwind on vacation.
However, if someone answered that they rather be on an adventure, it means that they are probably lazy at work.
I don't believe in this question, for the record.

Re: Interview Questions
I was once asked what my plans were for a family. i didn't realize the question was illegal at the time, so responded with 'DH and I are very focused on our careers.' i was asked repeatedly at a second interview and i finally said - with a smile - "i'm sorry, but i don't understand what my family plans have to do with my ability to to this job." I knew I blew it with that line but I didnt' care.

Re: Interview Questions
I recently started a new job(in January) At the interview the CEO asked what my GPA was-it was about a B. He then asked me if I was an underachiever! AND I got the job After comparing notes with others hired for the same position in other areas, they had similar experiences

Re: Interview Questions
I was asked why is a manhole round? and I was told they ask every person who interviews for the job that question.
I actually got it right but it was a pure guess after some logical thinking

I don't either. I work my azz off, i give 110% all the time. I like to relax for 2 days then I'm bored and I need to do something. I believe its because I'm a go-getter, at work, at home and on vacation! that should be a good quality
