Re: Introducing Sippy Cups, taking away bottles..
Can I be honest? So long as your kid doesn't go to Kindergarten with a binky and a bottle, I say screw what the ped. says and do what works for you and your child. For Ava, she took to the sippy cup early on, then when we got rid of the bottle, we went cold turkey with no problems. However, if she was the kind of kid who really needed a bottle to go to bed, hell, you can bet I'd give it to her. She's a baby, there's plenty of time for cups and straws and all that fancy crap. Do what you think is right!

I gave ds a sippy cup at 8 months and he is kinda getting it. He takes a sip from it and then launches it across the room. I guess he has his own plan
eta: I'm in no rush to take away the pacifier or bottle...he's happy I'm happy...

Thanks for posting this. My DD LOVES her bottles- they are her favorite thing in the world. Our ped told me at the one year to start getting rid of them and by our next visit-15 months- be totally done. I have tried- she even knows how to drink from a straw but will NOT drink milk from any sippy, only water. My ped suggested watering down her bottles but she wouldn't care. I guess we will just have to bite the bullet soon.
