Inviting kids from school to B-day party

Dear God, where did the time go? I am planning DS's 4th birthday party and I have to invite some of his friends from his class. But, I don't know who most of them are! Hahaha. I only know of 3, and when I ask him who his friends are he names them all! I am having it at Krazy Kids so I am limited to 15 children unless I pay extra. I am willing to pay extra, but I don't think I can afford to invite the whole class. Is that wrong? What do you do in a situation like this? This is alllllll new to me!

If you want to save money and avoid having a million kids just ask him to name his 3 bestest friends or whatever number of kids your comfortable with and have the teacher hand them directly to the parent at the end of the school day (assuming this is a class he is currently in) Or mail them directly to their home.
One year we invited all of DS's class and literally every kid RSVP'd plus they brought siblings and parents, some with both sets there so it cost us alot more than we had planned when it came to the 15 per kid overage and all the extra food we provided for the adults. The party room was crammed and DS didn't even acknowledge 74% of the kids there. He was so occupied with 2 of his closest friends.

I personally would either invite the whole class or all the boys or all the girls.

I think it avoids feelings getting hurt.

For class parties, I usually see half the class at birthday parties.
