Re: Iowa governor signs controversial law shortening early and Election Day voting

Maybe Trump was elected by voter fraud.
Maybe. Maybe it’s happened in some other past election from all the ones we’ve had. The way the system is allows for mistakes to happen, whether small or big, whether purposely or not. The way I see it is...there’s always room for improvement.

This thread has gone in a million directions, but I do have to say that the gov't really SHOULD issue ID's free of charge. A driver's license I can see having to pay a fee for- because at the end of the day you don't NEED to drive. I mean, yes, it is highly inconvenient if you can't drive but it isn't 100% necessary. But I do feel ID should be 100% necessary to vote and for those who can't afford a license, the gov't absolutely should be giving people ID at no charge. Not just for voting but for identification purposes in general- for jobs, for going to the hospital, etc I think everyone deserves a gov't issued ID
And the government most certainly can. Do we pay to get a SS card? Birth certificate? No (at least I don’t remember having to do so, please correct me if I’m wrong) because the government considers these documents important. A valid ID should be just as important to give to citizens.

Going back to the initial post, since this seemed to go off the rails again....
I have no issue reducing it to 20 days. 20 days or 29 days really should not matter. I do think closing an hour early might be a problem as it might interfere with working people or people needing transportation to a polling site.
I also, firmly believe that everyone that votes should be showing an ID. If you don't have a driver's license then the state should be providing some sort of ID to those over 18. I also don't believe in mailing ballots out to everyone because I find no order in that. Every ballot should be able to be accounted for and should not be a mass mailing.
Not really derailed as fraud was mentioned. Voter ID and only one ballot per person. NY is horrible as I could have voted under my name and came back and voted under my kids name as no ID was asked for.
Are you admitting to committing voter fraud this past election? Stating that you returned and voted under your kid's name? That is a federal crime.
I dont thinks she did...she is just stating how she "could" have, because they dont check IDs.
Lone how poorly these people think of my morals when they don’t even know me. I would never but could was my point. It should never be like that.
I admitted I read incorrectly. However, just because you THINK you could have does not mean that you would have been able nor does it mean that you would not have been able to. I don't know you at least enough to judge you. Things can always be improved. Case in point is my reading comprehension on this thread.

You would think right? Sadly there are many who would and probably have done. That is why this is an issue.
I was talking about the poster specifically not in general. Lol.

Imagine a person being that gangster and openly admitting to it on a site. I know this is a tangent but it made me chuckle.
I agree, I think there is voter fraud. To what extent, idk but I think there definitely is. There is fraud in every system that has holes in it and checking the ID is a big gap.
I also think there is voter suppression as well not enough man power in some of these small states or areas to count paper votes. And I can see them closing an hour earlier to make it easier in terms of resources.
