Irrational fears
I have noticed that EVERY TIME that I take James in and out of the car, I start to panic when I start moving thinking that I left him in the stroller in the parking lot. Every. Time. I have to constantly look back and make sure that yes, indeed, I did actually put the carseat into the car.
I'm also afraid of him choking on his fist, as he loves to shove it into his mouth.
What are some silly fears you have regarding your DC?

Re: Irrational fears
When he's sleeping so soundly, I sometimes think he stopped breathing.
Every night before I go to bed I stick my head in his crib and wait to see his chest rise and fall with each breath.
I know it's silly, but I wont be able to sleep unless I know he's ok.

Re: Irrational fears
i'm always afraid she's not breathing when she sleeps - so i STARE at her to make sure she's moving her chest....
i am always now petrified that she's going to fall off of ANYTHING...bed, couch, ME, etc...
i'm also VERY worried about what damage any of her falls have caused her...in the long run. (the doc tells us she's FINE, but i'm still concerned, she's QUITE wiggly and has fallen a few times now).

Re: Irrational fears
When they were still in the infant carriers, I always used to think I left one of them in the house.
Now sometimes I am afraid they will wiggle out of my arms in a parking lot and fall on the concrete.

Re: Irrational fears
DS is 2 and I still check him every night before I go to bed to make sure he is breathing. And if he sleeps later in the morning I think he stopped breathing in the middle of the night.

Re: Irrational fears
I have the same fear as you. I always check to make sure I didn't leave DD on the sidewalk at my apartment or the parking lot at work or a store. I guess i'm irrational, too!

Re: Irrational fears
I cannot even begin to name the fears I have with Noah...they will scare me if I even type them out. LOL
But I am now always afraid I have left a baby somewhere unsafe.
The other day I had Sydney in the Bouncer seat and the side of the couch kinda hid her from my view.. I went and changed Chloe, came back out to the living room a little while later and didnt see sydney in the pack and play, I FREAKED...I couldnt remember where I left her I even looked in the bathroom ....I thought, OMG, I'm so tired I left her somewhere and she fell, but where. After like 3 minutes of PANIC, I saw her and realized I needed a nap BAD...
But since then I keep freaking out...I check the changing table etc all the time to make sure I didn't leave a baby there I need sleep

I do the same and my kids are 13 months( ummm multiple times)
I get scared that D will pass out because he holds his breath when he cries
I always think their lips are blue-I think since they have had a lot of respiratory infections and the Dr's are always asking if I see signs of reduced oxygen. When I ask my DH though-he says no.

Re: Irrational fears
We have a staircase that has a landing and turns 90 degrees; at the landing there is a floor to ceiling window. Everytime I go down the stairs holding DS I think I'm going to trip down the stairs and go flying through the window.
...we have another set of stairs at the back of the house, no window at the landing and I have no fear of falling down those stairs it's crazy

OMG THANK YOU!!
I do the same thing! Jim thinks im crazy. She's 15mo old and I still check to see if she's breathing. Even in naps. And i refuse to go to sleep unless I've checked on her. I have been known to shake her (aka, put my hand on her and push here and there and 'shake' her - I dont mean truly shaking her!) until she reacts. I have reached back over the car seat to 'feel' her face/hair until I feel her move.
I LOVE when she snores!
If she's deep asleep my shaking doesnt wake her. really nothing does. I change her diaper and put ponytails in her hair while she's asleep. I can even sometimes, completely change her out of her PJs and into her daycare outfit with socks and shoes on top of doing her hair and changing her diaper and she'll sleep straight through it all (AND putting a sweater on her)
All I ask for is a reaction to show me all is ok

Re: Irrational fears
I do that... I keep looking back at him in the rear view mirror. Also, in the mornings after I drop him off at daycare I look back in the mirror knowing he's not there and saying to myself... "hello, I dropped him off safely at daycare" I think I've done this just about every day. LOL!
Oh, and when I watch him sleeping in the monitor I stare for a while b/c I'm thinking... he's not moving. Then he starts moving and I'm thinking... darn, go back to sleep
BTW... thanks for taking DH out. Had some quiet time to myself after Mason went to sleep. LOL!

Re: Irrational fears
This one is WAY silly....but now that I'm new to formula feeding...I put all the scoops in, and right before I'm about to put the water in, I doubt myself, wondering if I put in the right amount- paranoid I put in too much. So I dump it out and do it all over again!

Aren't you suppose to fill with water first, than add the scoops?

Re: Irrational fears
I have a fear that I will fall with DS walking up or down the stairs.
I also have to check periodically throughout the night that he is breathing. I'm lucky because he snores, and I can hear him from my bed...
