Is 8:30 too late for bedtime?

I have seen a few things here and there that people are saying babies should be in bed before 8:30.

What is considered late to you?

I don't think so , Ds goes to bed around 9PM -9:30PM.

I don't get home till 6ish so I really want to spend time with him,KWIM

Honestly for a long time 8:30 was early in this house.

My DD didn't go to bed until 9:30-10:00

Now that she is in a big girl bed, she goes to bed about 8:30-9:00.

My DD ALWAYS went to bed later
Didn't bother me too much, cause she slept until 9:00 in the morning and I like my sleep in the morning

uh my dd dosent go down sometimes till 10:30.

I try sooner at times, it dosent work but I also dont mind...its my time with her and works for us.

She does sleep late though...I have to wake her up in the am.

not at all, typically ds goes to bed between then and 9:30

Sabrina usually falls asleep by 9:30 or 10 so 8:30 is early. No big deal for us because DH gets home on the later side and wants some time with her.

I don't think it is the time they go to bed but more of how much sleep they get.

8:30 is bedtime in our house. I don't get home til 7/7:30PM - it's the latest I can keep him up without him getting overtired.

My DS goes to bed around 8:30. We get home at 6ish, then dinner and play time, bath at 8, books after that, and in the crib at 8:30. Sometimes later if he naps when we first get home. He is up btw. 6 - 7 for day care, and takes a 2 hour nap there. He is 17 months now.

For me personally anytime after 8:30pm is late for us. I like DD to get at least 10 hrs of night time sleep so we try to put her to bed by 8:30. Lately it's been 9pm by the time she falls asleep and wakes up anytime between 7:30-8am.

It really depends coz there are some dc's that sleep late but also wake up late, hence take a nap late as well. If it works for you then don't change it. The only reason we aim for 8:30 the latest is that DD goes to daycare and is up early. So for us the earlier bedtime works.

Oh yeah- DD is 2 1/2 and sleeps about 1 1/2 to 2 hrs for nap.

I think you have to do what works for you and your family!

DS goes to bed at 9pm. We do this so that we can all have dinner together and we can play with him each night. If he went at 7:30 we would get no time with him as I get home from work after picking him up at 6:30 and DH doesn’t get home some nights until 7.
DS sleeps from 9-7 and takes 2-90 minute naps during the day. And he doesnt get cranky until after 10 so some nights we push it until 9:30 if he is happily playing!

My SIL’s kids go to bed even later as their dad works late and the older kids have activities after school so they do what works for them.

8:30 is fine for bed, Todd Jr who's 6 months goes down around 7:30-8, but there has been times he went down around 8-8:30, he just slept longer the next morning, which is fine with me--lol

I don't think so.

That is usually the earliest that DS goes to bed. Mainly b/c my DH works nights and doesn't leave til 9pm, I can't get DH out the door and DS in bed at the same time

DD is almost 2 and she goes to bed between 9 & 9:30

Our DD isn't here yet, but we plan to have her in bed between 9-9:30. DH and I are night owls, and DH doesn't finish work until about 6, so I don't see the point in putting her to bed any earlier than that.

Of course, I know that SHE'LL dictate when SHE'S ready for bed...

DD would go to bed around 11-12pm when she was younger but now that she's somewhat on a schedual she goes to bed around 8-9pm

DD is in bed by 8...mostly so I have some down time and that's the time she's ready to sleep. But some nights she's up til 8:30. I don't think that's late.

Depends on the age. I think after 6 months the bedtime usually needs to move to something between 6-8, but it's really dependent on the baby. if they can stay up until 8:30 and not wake up all night long then i don't see why it would be bad.

DD is usually in asleep by 730-8. DH gets her up early in the morning to take her to daycare so buy that time she is pretty tired.

Rj is in bed by 7:30. but we our day starts very early.

he fell asleep at 6:15 tonight.

some nights he's up till 11.

we are all over the place.

I would love an 8-8:30 bedtime. That's usually when I start my "get back to bed" plea with him.

DD goes to sleep between 10PM & 11 PM, so to me 8:30 is early.

Kristina's bedtime is 6-630 latest... She did it on her own, and she wakes from 630-7 the next morning....

God help me if she stays awake later than that....

Both my kids go to bed around 8:30pm. We don't get home until 7pm.

My son goes to bed at 7 at the latest.
