I think babies should be asleep by 7pm or so, but I realize it's easier said than done.

pffffffft can you tell my baby that!! we put him down at 8, he was yelling, so we went in to check on him, he was all smiles, and he even laughed out loud for the first time ever!! ( DS is almost 9 weeks)

we try to get him to bed by 8 but needless to say, it's now almost 10PM and he is wide awake Chat Icon

I don't think it is late, if it's not late for you. You have to do what is right for you and your child. My DD goes to bed at 7 so 8:30 is late, but that is her schedule. She wakes between 6and 7 but if we put her to bed later she still wakes at the same time Chat Icon so 7pm it is.

Abby is still up. Its almost 10. We will get her in bed earlier as I am going back to work in a couple of weeks and need a better schedule for all of us.

Megans bedtime is 9 30. Some nights she is up until 10. Again as so many have said, its what works for you and your family. My dh needs to sleep in the morning and our living situation doesnt lend itself to her being up early and running around. She sleeps until 9 in the morning usually. If she falls asleep any earlier than 9, she is usually up in the middle of the night.

Jaidy goes to bed between 8 and 8:30. Damien goes down between 9 and 9:30. When Damien napped we were lucky to get him down by 10:30/11:00.

BTW: I found this chart.

Total sleep time can include napsChat Icon

Age Hours Of Sleep
0 - 2 months 10.5 - 18
2 - 12 months 14 - 15
1 - 3 years 12 - 14
3 - 5 years 11 - 13
5 - 12 years 10 - 11

If 8:30 is late then I must be the worst mom because my DD doesn't go to bed until 9 or 9:30.

I really think it depends on their nap time too. My DD only takes one nap now and it isn't until 3pm. She refused to go down before that.

Joey is 6 months old, and he is in bed at 7:30 PM like clockwork. But he is also the kind of kid that needs to be in bed by that time or he just falls apart. He sleeps until about 6:30 AM. If 8:30 works for you, I do not think it is to late at all. I wish he would stay up that extra hour, it would give DH more time with him!
