is it an EXTERNAL sono for the test for Down Syndrome?
Is the sono/ultrascreen for the Down Syndrome and other test just a finger prick and EXTERNAL sono? My DH has his young sons tomorrow and we have to bring them to the appt with us and if its just an external sono than I figure its ok to have them in the room with us because they can see the baby also which would be cool. If its an INTERNAL sono than I would rather them not be in there as it’s a little inappropriate.
The only sono I had was both internal and external so actually….if it is just external…how do they do that? did you just roll down your pants or you still had to undress from waist down? If its undressing than I’d rather them not be in the room with me.

Mine were external. And they just have you roll your pants down slightly, but you keep everything on.

Mine were external. And they just have you roll your pants down slightly, but you keep everything on.

External -- but they might pull your pants down a bit and your pubic area could be slightly exposed. I suppose it's up to you if you want the boys to see that or not.

well last time they had Dh off to the side and his boys are young and short(5 and 7) so they probably wont be able to see much, hopefully lol.
DH really wants to come and they are too young to leave outside in teh waiting room alone. i thought it might be cool for them to see the baby on the sono

Mine was external and internal. I only had the internal because the tech couldn't find one of my ovaries for some reason. But if that happens you could always have the boys in there for the external part and have them leave the room for the internal.

I just went yesterday for mine and they did both.
They did the internal first (without my DH in the room) just to check my cervix. Then they got my DH and did the rest externally. However, because they did the internal first, I was undressed from the waist down but at that point, I wasn't in the stirrups or anything, just had the paper over me.
BUT if this is the same for you, you could probaly get dressed before they bring everyone in...then you would just roll your pants down (you do see your pubic area a little).
I think every office is different though and a lot of people don't have the internal cervix check first.

yeah its just the ultrasound, and then they took some blood as well...
i think it has to with the measurments of the baby as well as some sort of blood test...
