Is it in bad taste for someone to...
Comment that you have gained weight? I mean it depends on who it is coming from. It's from DH or my mom I don't care.
But yesterday we were at my mom's house for a 4th of July BBQ and my brother's MIL commented that I had gained weight. She actually said it looks like I put on a lot of pounds! What? who even says that. She is a nice lady and she didn't say it in a bad way but still...I thought it was in bad taste.
I'm not stupid because I know I put on weight so I won't deny it but to hear someone comment on it hurts. Not even DH would say that I put on a lot of pounds. If I ask him whether he thinks i've put on weight he'll answer me honestly but he would never say it the way she did...

I got the exact same thing from my MIL last weekend. It put me in a tailspin the whole week. How rude...I'm sure you look beautiful! That should never be said to a PG woman, or any woman for that matter, no matter how big or small she is.

Umm, yes. Next time you see her, make a nasty comment about her wig, or her painted on eyebrows, or her HUGE Dolly Partonesque bosom...see how she likes it.
(apparently this lady who made the comment looks like this)

Thanks Ladies...
I thought it was just me. I'm not PG or anything i've just put on weight. I thought it was rude and just through me for a loop. I felt like **** the rest of the night. That comment stuck in my head all night. Being around her made me uncomfortable.
I told DH about it and he thought it was rude of her to comment. DH said that he would never say it the way she did about me gaining weight.

Next time I can comment on how she eats at my mom's house and hardly ever offers to help clear the table. Her husband always offers to clear the table. Her husband is the sweetest man on earth. She's nice too but sometimes she makes dumb comments...
I would never ever say to someone (in their face) that they have gained weight.
But here's a question...if a person asked you whether you thought they gained weight, would you answer them honestly?
If it's obvious that they did gain then I would say yes but in a nice way like "yeah but not that much" I would certainly never say "yeah you gained a lot of weight" or "yeah you have put on a lot of pounds".
