Is it inappropriate to wear black to a Baptism?
I just bought the cutest black dress with ruffles on the chest. Could I wear it to a Baptism? Maybe with a cream colored pashmina for a little color? WDYT?

I would wear it. It's NY. Black is pretty much appropriate for anything.

I did also...i tried to avoid it but it was the only thing that looked decent--i tried to soften it will pearl accessories

I think it's fine...however, my DH strongly suggested that I get a "non-black" dress for DS' christening. He doesn't like black for religious functions. He even came shopping with me and helped me pick out something non-black!

You should see what people wore to my DD's Baptism. My sister, her DH and their kids shoed up in jeans, old t-shirts, sneakers and shorts. Some items even had holes in them. I was mortified.
Your dress sounds lovely. I think it would be perfect.
