DS could identify all of the letters of the alphabet by 18 months (eg we'd put all the letters in one big pile and ask him "where is P" and he'd pull out P). By now, 24 months, he can sound out almost all of the letters (eg if he sees a letter like on someone's shirt, a license plate, he'll make the sound "F= fffffff"). Crazy thing is he has delayed speech. So, he doesn't have them memorized accoridng to the song, which is just rote memory, he actually knows what they all are, out of order, and in any shape or form (learning lowercase too).
ETA: this is an old post, I probably responded to this waaaayyy back

Whhhhaaaatttt?
I think it's pretty cool. My kids never hear the alphabet song. Seriously, I don't sing and we don't watch much TV.
My nephew knows all his numbers and colors at 2and that's pretty off the norm for most kids (he played with apps a lot).
Congratulations to that kid and I'd watch... you never know!

My DD is 22 months. Says and recognizes the alphabet. She can also count to twenty and knows some shapes already. So to me thats normal.
