Is it normal for an oven to be smokey the first time you use it?
I'm using my new oven right now and it's a little bit smokey. DH and I removed everything but it's a little smokey.

I think it has something to do with the heating element- it's fine. Mine did that too at first.

Yes it's supposed to be that way.
I believe there is some sort of coating that melts or comes off when you first use it.

yeah, that happens. if it continues to smoke though after multiple uses, then i'd worry.

yes..a little smokey and even a bad smell at first are normal things with a new oven...
