Is it possible to renew car registration for just one year?

Is it possible to renew car registration for just one year?
Instead of two? DH and I plan on moving out of state next year so we only need to renew registration for one year.

I don't believe so. When you turn in your plates (if it is before the second year starts) they will refund you the second years worth

if you return the plates early you'll get a refund for the difference in time
