Is it true that Cablevision won't have channel 7 (ABC) after March 7th?
I am not liking these commercials I am seeing!!

Yes. They are in talks with Disney who own ABC and ESPN and it's possible that if not rexolved we could lose the channels.
This deeply scares me because I need to move in with parents, Verizon customers, to see LOST

I just told my DH he may loose ESPN and now he is on his cell phone calling anyone and everyone who will listen to his woes!

I wouldn't switch providers for HGTV or Food Network but I would switch for ABC. Cablevision would lose tons of customers. They have to make a compromise.

I don't understand why ABC can play on emotions of a LOCAL channel. I miss antennae 
I would only miss Lost...so I would just watch online. I won't succomb to bullying.

Channel 7 is a broadcast station.
It's a free channel- not a pay channel.
People who don't even have cable can get it over an antenna.
Now they want to take away our FREE channels???
This is really getting out of hand.

I too think this is BS and do not like how cablevision is preying on their customers. Many do not understand that even if they take away a station like this, there is still a way for you to view it. They are taking advantage of the confusion around the digital switch.
If you have a digital converter in your television set, an HD antenna should pick up the broadcast signal. If not, a digital to analog converter will be needed to allow you to view it.

actually, this isn't correct. Since the digital conversion in June, all tv stations broadcasting digitally now. Just FYI.
Channel 7 is a broadcast station, but all cable systems & dish/etc have to pay a fee to air.

This is getting ridiculous.
Until we close on our first home at the end of the month we are with IL's who have Cablevision. First, the whole mess w/ HGTV and now this. I don't care who is at fault or whatever - I don't want a headache every other month with a threat of losing another channel. DH is going to talk to IL's about switching tonight.
We had, at our old house, FIOS which we loved but when IL's moved they moved to a neighborhood without FIOS. Since moving in, they have put it in so I think we should make the move.
When DH and I close at the end of the month I'm looking forward to choosing just about any carrier other than Cablevision.

Just an FYI...it is only effecting ABC 7 and not any of the Disney/ABC owned cable networks and if Channel 7 does go dark it is because ABC pulled the plug...not Cablevision.
Don't get me wrong...I LOVE ABC! Everything I watch is on that network and I will be pis s ed if it goes dark.
