Is this a good birthday gift for a 3-year-old boy?

And if so, is it still a good idea if the parents are already buying him a bicycle? Is it practical to have both?

It is cool and a 3 year old should love it but if the parents are buying the big boy bike that is a big thing and I wouldn't buy another bike that could possibly overshadow their gift - unless they ok'ed it. My son just got his big boy bike for his 3rd birthday and hasn't touched his big wheel since and I rathe rhim pedal a big boy bike than a big wheel. My older son got his big boy bike at 3 and preferred his big wheel to over 4yrs...guess it depends on the kid too. Maybe a cool scooter rather than a bike? My son got a fire engine one from amazon and it makes siren noises and such and loved it. he got a matching fire hat and water squiter back pack too!!

ETA - My son doesn't have the roller coaster but he loves it at camp and at friends houses who have it. If they have the room - I'd go with that!!

My son is almost 3:) I love the Big Wheel, but by this time we already have 3 tricycles. We got the roller coaster for his 2nd birthday so they may have it already?

I do like the idea of a scooter made for 3 and up. We don't have that yet, but my ds would love it!! You could get a helmet to go with it too!! hth
