Is this a good price for dog training?

I'm looking to take Yogi to obedience school before I pull my hair out. The class I looked into today is 7 weeks long for 90 mintues each session 1x per week. They cover the following in the classes:
Heel, sit, down, stay, come
Situational training including greeting without jumping (Yogi needs this BIG TIME)
Go to your place and stay
How to handle dogs that steal (this has also become a problem since having my son 3 months ago)
Calming down in exciting situations (GOD help me with this)
and other problematic behaviors that is brought up in the class

The class is offered for $180. Is this a good price for what is offered?

$180 per class?

eta - is it a private class or other doggies, like at Petco or something simiiar?

We used Best Friends dog training, (they are known as another name but I cant remember it) They use a pulse collar and we paid $800 for the collar, basic obedience and LIFETIME classes, whcih I really liked. The lifetime class was really apealing to me.

No, its $180 for the 7 weeks. The class is offered at the facility along with other doggies. It is at a place called Dog Works in Holbrook. I took Yogi there for one Puppy class and I really liked the trainer. But, we just went for fun. Now, it seems like Yogi is needing more training since we had our son.

The $180 is an INVESTMENT in a happy future with Yogi Chat Icon I wish everybody would get their doggies the training they need to coexist peacefully!!! OUr dogs were a NIGHTMARE as puppies and we had the trainer come to our hourse for private lessons for about 12 weeks; best $ we ever spent!!!! YAY YOGI!!!

Thank you so much for saying this! Yogi really is a great dog....when we are home alone with him. But, when people come to our house he goes out of control! He jumps and runs around the WHOLE TIME they are here even if its for minutes or hours. He demands a lot of attention that we have been good with giving him, but it dosent seem to be enough. Our son was born in September and Yogi is great with him. He is gentle despite his being hyper. But, once I went back to work it seems that he has gotten a bit jealous. I think he sees that our son comes with us everyday and he has to stay home. When we play with the baby or change his diaper or give him any individual attention Yogi runs and steals something..usually a teddy bear from the baby's room. So, before we pulled our hair out I looked into training. We want to be able to live happily with Yogi...and not be frustrated all the time. I hope the training works!

Re: Is this a good price for dog training?

OH Krista, Yogi will thrill you with how fast he picks up the training. But like I always say, they're not training the dogs they're training US Chat Icon The jumping is SO common but that's because almost 100% of the time we humans react EXACTLY the wrong way - we talk to them, say their names (even if its in a MEAN way), we touch them, tell them to relax, its a nightmare 'cause the doggie sees ALL of that as a reward. Only by removing the reward does the behavior stop - COMPLETELY IGNORING him, turning your back, arms crossed in front of your chest, etc. (and EVERY SINGLE PERSON WHO ENTERS has to do the same thing, consistency is the KEYYYY). Its SO HARD TO DO when a big ball of cuteness is jumping up to greet you!!

My Sophie is a teddy bear thief too, she just LOVES sniffing and chomping on them, so we're learning to put all baby's toys on a high shelf!!!!!
