I think it's odd too. Like I said my godmother is taking the LIRR and her gift was 3 boxes, so that I get. Or a relative is coming by plane sent her gift to my moms ahead, which is huge. But if it's small bring it. Even when I can't go and send a gift I either send it after the shower or to the hosts house before the shower if possible. I never send a gift to the bride/mom before the shower date. Surprise or not. That's what I was taught.

My mom is super traditional and insists on bringing every gift to the baby shower, whether they are coming or not. We ultimately decided not to bring the gifts that showed up unwrapped if the guest isn't coming. But everything else is going to the shower. So anyone that sent a gift ahead of time only created more work for my mom. But most of them sent the gifts to her.

Also there's a lot of superstition about bringing baby stuff into the house before baby. It's a lot less now, but I still know people who won't let any baby stuff through their door until the baby arrives.

Not sure where you registered but BRU and BBB have made soooo many shipping mistakes with my registry and for items I've purchased for others. I wouldn't put it past the company for making the error. I find them both to be very unorganized, BRU more so.

Also sometimes the shipping address defaults to the registrant. Maybe they assumed you wanted your gifts shipped or they didn't realize.
