Is this enough food for 1st birthday party?
The party is at the house, we're inviting about 45 people, 10 kids under 13 also. I've never catered a whole party before, we always just make the food ourselves. Should I get whole trays of these things or 1/2 for some?
appetizers: antipasto bruschetta cheese & crackers shrimp cocktail spanakopita
catered: chicken marsala rigatoni ala vodka eggplant rollatini tilapia grilled vegetables sausage & peppers (homemade) greek salad (homemade) cranberry walnut gorgonzola salad(homemade) rolls & butter
dessert: 24 Cupcakes White Chocolate covered pretzels Snowflake Cake (3/4 sheet) Snowman marshmallow sticks Snowflake cookies Coconut truffles (snowballs)

If it were me and my family I would do whole trays of the dinner entrees. I do think that is enough food for everyone.
Not related, but is that the Mickey car in your avatar photo?!?!?

I would do full trays as well. You never know if people would prefer to have more of one then another...even tho there is alot to choose from. Better to have left overs then not enough.

Re: Is this enough food for 1st birthday party?
I think you are pretty good. I would do full trays of the entrees and the veggies. (your menu looks like mine btw )
Not sure if you need the two salads..I guess it depends on how big you are going with them. Also maybe thing about 1/2 tray of chiken fingers or nuggets or smileys or fries for the kids. 1/2 try would be enough so they dont' eat all of your pasta.KWIM
and you can NEVER have too many desserts!!

I would do a full tray of:
The chicken The penne The egglplant
I would do a half tray of the tilapia
I would add chicken fingers
I would only do one salad
You can get away with a half tray of Sausage and peppers I think

Re: Is this enough food for 1st birthday party?
Thank you! I thought about the chicken nuggets as soon as I sent this and said to myself they're going to tell me to add that
I'll do 1/2 fish 1/2 chicken nuggets 1/2 sausage & peppers and 1/2 fries?
Another stupid question, should I just buy a box of chicken nuggets & french fries from costco myself? It would be a lot of wasted money to get that catered right?
Randi - no, that toy is a fire truck from a yardsale. He just figured out he can stand on it and look into the PNP

Def get them yourself..no reason to cater those... Sausage and Peppers.. my fam..loves it.. that why I'd do the full try but judge for yourself and how your family is.

I always get a hero too....just to have extra food in case. It NEVER goes to waste.
I think the suggestions that everyone else made sound good.

Re: Is this enough food for 1st birthday party?
I don't think you need 3/4 of a sheet cake for that many people. I had a 1/2 sheet cake(the bakery told me it was good for 55-65 people) and I had a little bit more people than you and I had a little bit of cake left over.

Re: Is this enough food for 1st birthday party?
def don't cater the nuggets and fries! total waste. Kids barely eat anything at parties. Plus it would get soggy. I bought the big bag of disney shaped nuggets from costco for DS's 1st birthday.

I agree with PP. Pop a thing of nuggets and fries in the oven and you're all set. The rest looks awesome! What time should I be there

Re: Is this enough food for 1st birthday party?
I would get whole trays of the chicken and the ziti.
I didn't do any special food for the kids. they all ate the pasta (I checked with the moms of the kids before hand to make sure they would eat it).
do that and save yourself some money and SPACE on the table. all these racks take up room!
