I'm not an athlete, but I would assume wearing lace may be more breathable than most fabrics.
Maybe she was just practicing & not at a game?

I really must be so desensitized...I finally see that her tennis outfit blew up and "exposed" her behind.
I don't know..in sports, mishaps happen.
we all have a butt, and I think I see her as more of a pro athlete just working hard....I don't get the impression that it's to gain attention or anything.
Women can never win.. a man can expose his butt/twig & berries and it's funny. A woman does and it's the end of the world.
I doubt she was thinking in that moment that that her skirt was blowing up..I'm sure she was focused on the game, KWIM?

This is typical of the Williams girls. My company has a box with front row seats at the open and we see them most years. One time Venus wore a denim tennis outfit with black sneaker boots up to her knees. It was hilarious. Another time she wore a pink dress and chandalier earings. It definitley keeps the interest of the spectators.

I watched that match.
if it DID happen, it was a nano second that some photo was lucky to snap a pic of at the right time.
either way, she is a kick asss athlete with an even kicker *** assss.
I'd rather she have her bum exposed playing hard on a tennis court than playing hard on some yatch or getting out of a limo.

Also, Venus has fought for equal prize earnings for women, and also has a fashion degree. If she can fight & win for equal pay on the court, I'm all for her wearing lace!

I disagree.
tennis is one of the few women's sports that women can also celebrate being women, and I think that is a POWERFUL message to young girls.
you can be an incredible athlete (and let's face it, tennis players are some of the most physically fit athlete's out there) and STILL wear your favorite color and your favorite earings and feel PRETTY.
it's important to show that the balance CAN be struck.
and if Serena and her curls and earrings can kick Andy Roddicks arse in a tourny, all the better for it.

what I DID see was a strong, quick, fast, graceful, confident woman putting the hammer down on her opponent.
it's sad that she would have to worry about what undershorts she wears. she's covered...it's the same as wearing a flesh colored bra. no one has to wonder. it's obvious she has something on.
