Well hopefully that rudeness isn't reflected in her wedding gifts. She will sing a different tune then I'll betChat Icon

Re: Is this the new thing now? **UPDATED at top 7/14**

wow... just WOW. that is so rude and tacky... i cannot believe that the favor/scroll was the thank you!

i won't really comment about the cost of the shower and the gifts... i mean, we all have the choice to attend/not attend, or give a gift card for what we can afford. and if someone can afford a $15,000 shower who am i to begrudge them that?

but to open gifts and toss them aside like you don't care (which is what it sounded like the bride did) and then to not even bother writing personalized thank yous??? SO SO SO rude. my mother would be mortified if i tried to do that.

what is she going to do for the wedding? sign her name on the pre-preinted thank you cards and that's it?

Shame on her.

If that's how she shows her appreciation for the shower, then I wouldn't be surprised if many of those guests aren't as generous when it comes time for the wedding.

I already thought this. I was more than generous for the shower - so it's not happening again. I could kick myself now.

I can only hope that your mother's cousin will say something to the groom about it and have it get back to her. Hopefully she will realize it was tacky adn send a thank you anywayChat Icon That's really bad, though!

WITHOUT the signature...just a preprinted thank you. for the WEDDING! I was ******! I work a lot of hours to make what we gave in their check and I was mortified that they couldn't take 5 minutes to write us a personalized thank you.

Chat Icon Chat Icon how rude!

I went to a similar shower recently - very large, over-the-top, etc. The bride had to use a microphone because there were so many people there and she rushed through the gifts in the same way. I did get a thank you note, but my mother did not. Chat Icon

Nothing wrong with big or over-the-top showers, but show a little class people!

I think that the sentiment and note is a nice idea, but I definitely think that there should be a more formal thank you card sent to those people that attended the shower. Is she sending people that didn't attend the shower the same thing that people at the shower received or is she sending them a written thank you note.

I can understand if she was not surprised for her shower. My shower wasn't a surprise but I was sure as heck happy to be there!

I cannot fathom not acknowledging the gift when opening it and not sending a personalized thank you. People are obligated to bring gifts to a shower and she should be obligated to send a thank you to acknowledge it. Very poor taste, IMO, and I wouldn't be giving them a very big wedding gift.

i got a similar thank you at a shower once. i was horrified and thought it was beyond tacky. that shower and the wedding were both beautiful and expensive. but money doesn't buy manners.

I was just going to say this!
My mother would have head my head!
I can hear her saying how "Rude" and "How Ungrateful" I am!'

That is the rudest and tackiest thing I have ever heard!
I STILL to this day, personalize every single Thank You Card I send!

I went to a shower recently where the bride to be had so many gifts that the bridemaids actually took off the wrapping paper and handed the bride the box - and lost half of the cards in the process.
But AT LEAST I got a thank you!

What you describe OMG!
