is this the wrong way to potty train ... opinions please
DS is 18m, and I'm in no rush to get him potty trained, but I think he's really ready, tells me pee pee coming, poopie coming when it is, and whines when there is anything in the diaper. Says no diapers when I try to get him to wear one. So I feel guilty for not potty training him.
So I started slow steps, but when he says "poop/pee coming" and I get him ready to sit down, his little tush just wont sit still long enough for stuff to happen, and he ends up far away from the potty ... pee poop on the floor and yells out "pot pot pot".
I don't know how to get him to understand he needs to sit there and wait for poop/pee. I try books, toys, games, he just doesn't want to stay still. Only time he sits still is strapped to a high chair.
So this morning, during breakfast (which is when he usually poops for some reason) He started to make that face, and I asked "is poop coming?" gives me a nod, I tell him I'm going to get potty and sit him on it. I sit him down and of course, within 2 seconds he's running across the room. So I sit him down, turn on the tv, sesame street seems to work to keep him still. Leave it for about 10 minutes, and he's pooping and peeing like a champ. I give him his reward (potty candy ), scream happy yays do a little dance and everyone is happy.
I feel like this is the wrong way to do it. How do I continue with this? Potty by the tv? Do we need to install a tv in the bathroom?
opinions please

DS does much of his reading on the potty. Won't sit unless he has a book nearby. Anything to keep him sitting is fine. He's still really young to sit still for any length of time.
