Is this too much/too little newborn clothes?
I have: Short Sleeve Onesees (10) Long Sleeve Oneseese (4) Sleepers (3) Socks (6) Hats (8) everyday outfits (2)
I am afraid she will outgrow the oneseese.
Am I better off getting 0-3mo ones?
ETA: I have other clothes sizes 0-3 up to 12mo, I am most concerned that she will not use the newborns stuff.

When I was a nanny, the baby I watched was only in newborn clothes for like a week...so I think your ok...I would def start stocking up on some 0-3mths

As an experienced mom I would say dont buy a lot of newborn things. I learned my lesson the first time and wont do it again. I still have newborn stuff on the hanger with DS. Granted I could use it for the next baby since it was gender neutral. But everything i buy clothing wise will be 0-3 months or 3 months. You will be amazed at how fast they grow.

I got a lot of use out of newborn stuff. only because dd was a preemie and newborn was up to 8 pounds. I say just buy the 0-3 month stuff.

Re: Is this too much/too little newborn clothes?
I would get some more playsuits in 0-3 months, at least 4 or 5 more. If there are leaky diapers, you will go through all 3 quickly!
Also, I loved the snap front t-shirts when DS was first born. Tugging anything over his head freaked me out--their necks are so unsteady. I would buy those, but also in 0-3 months.
I kept the tags on my newborn clothes, and washed them when I brought DS home. He was a little over 8 lbs., but his 0-3 month clothes were still too big for the first month or so.

Re: Is this too much/too little newborn clothes?
My son wore newborn for such a short time I can barely remember it. And he never wore the newborn diapers. He was 8lbs 11oz
I do think that if you have them hold on to them...you never know. Plenty of babies actually did wear them for a while. Although...my advice...don't take all the tags off and hold receipts if possible in case (like me) you have to make returns.
But your list looks good!

Re: Is this too much/too little newborn clothes?
I am not sure when your baby is due but if your baby is due within the winter months, then I definitely recommend more of these sleep-n-play outfits from gerber.
Gerber Sleep and Play outfits
As a pp mentioned, sometimes you end up using 3 in a day between bathing and diaper leaks! They are great for the baby to use at home and they keep their legs warm - the onesies won't.
Hope that helps.

Re: Is this too much/too little newborn clothes?
DD wore her newborn snap shirts for exactly 2 days after she came home. Then they were too tight on her... she never wore the newborn onesies I bought her because she didn't wear them until her umbilical cord fell off. She wore each of her newborn outfits twice. I bought 4, but she was 9lbs 2oz at birth and 9lbs 7oz a week and a half later.
I think you're fine with what you have so far. I wouldn't buy anymore newborn clothes until after you give birth when you'll know if you really need them or not.

Re: Is this too much/too little newborn clothes?
You might not need that many newborn onesies because you really don't start using them until the umbilical cord falls off which is a couple of weeks. So by then depending on size your DC might have grown out. I would also say that you don't need that many hats. Don't forget people are going to give you clothes once the baby is born too. And you could always run out and get more things if you feel like you need them.

Re: Is this too much/too little newborn clothes?
I would exchange the newborn onesies for 0-3 months. As someone else said, you can't really put them in onesies until their cord falls off - which can take weeks. Even now 3 months later, I rarely put a onesie on her. She's either in a sleeper or a regular outfit.
I would get a few more sleepers, your DC will live in sleepers the first few weeks.

I think you have too many newborn clothes. They outgrow them in a week or less. I would get all 0-3 and 3-6.

Re: Is this too much/too little newborn clothes?
it totally depends on the baby. I had DS at 37w2d, and he was in preemie clothes until he was 2 mos, newborn clothes until 4 mos & 0-3 until 7+ mos. He is now in 3 - 6 at 8 months.
I will say that it is harder to go shopping in the beginning, so if you buy extra nb stuff you could always keep the tags & receipts and exchange them for larger sizes later.

Re: Is this too much/too little newborn clothes?
I would return the NB size and wait until the baby is born. For my DD we used NB for like 3 weeks but she was only 7lbs 5oz. If you have a bigger baby they may not use them at all. Same thing with NB diapers. Don't stock up on them or any kind of diaper for that matter. If you do keep them sealed up. Don't make the same mistake I did....stocking up on tons of Pampers brands, taking them out of the box only to find out DD is allergic to them. Return the NB for now and get 0-3 months then when the baby is born and you see the size you can have your DH run to BRU and pick up some NB stuff if necessary. They get alot more use out of 0-3 months than NB anyway. And you definitely need more sleepers...DD goes through them like crazy.

Re: Is this too much/too little newborn clothes?
ok, I am not going to open the 2 packages of NB onesees, I bought until she is born.
I am not buying any diapers, if we don't get any from the hospital, I'll buy them on the way home, or send someone out for them.
thanks girls!
