Re: It happened again
has this given anyone else extreme anxiety?! Every time I get into my car I am in a panic that one of my kids is still in his/her car seat from the last time I was in the car (I know they AREN'T) but I panic for a brief moment. This is really driving me crazy

YES! And DD is 4 now so you know that she doesn't shut up a minute and would never just let me walk away without screaming her head off (unless she was asleep of course!) But I sometimes glance in my rearview mirror in a panic. And every day when I am at work, at SOME point, I have a quick moment of panic and think- I dropped her off today right? Or she's home with DH today right? I always have to flash back and make myself remember the moment I left her at daycare and where she was (sitting with her friend, sitting on the teacher's lap, etc) to make myself feel better.

Yup me too. Last week, I stopped bringing DD to work with me (my sister would pick her up from me) and then having her dropped back off to me at the end of the day so she was always in the car with me. Now, every single day, I'm checking the back seat even though I know she's not with me. And I can't shake the feeling that I'm forgetting something even though I know she's at home with my mom.

YES! My DH is the one who drops DS off at ILs in the mornings. Now every day I text DH to confirm he dropped DS off, what did his ILs say, was DS okay going with them, etc etc just to be 100% certain DH didn't forget. I know heaven forbid DH did forget my ILs would be calling looking for DS but it still terrifies me now.

Has it made anyone else more aware of looking into car windows in shopping malls now?

Yes I am constantly scanning cars for car seats and then checking. I'm not going out of my way but I am definitely more aware.
I've been so sick over this, esp since it happened on LI and CT so it hits home and combine that with another horrific news story I read and will not link. I've been literally sick all day and at night. Last night I had to pray to forget what I read bc I just couldn't sleep.
I am constantly thinking abt dd and where she is and who she is with and getting sick thinking I left her in the car KNOWING I didn't.
I am starting to think there should be required classes to take when you're pregnant. Like the hospital makes you watch the shaken baby video, well maybe it's time to add on to that.

Yes, I have definitely been making more of an effort to scan cars in parking lots now.

Sure has! I just said to DH today while loading up the car full of groceries that I'm so affected by the poor baby in Georgia. I rolled all the windows down while we loaded up the trunk so DS wouldn't' get overheated. Even the other day we were getting gas and even though I had the fan on, the car got really hot really fast. My heart just sank.
I just can't shake this story.

It happened again
I genuinely believe that psychological evaluations should be given before having children. So many people that would make wonderful parents can't and there are psychopaths killing their kids left and right. This world is disgusting.

It happened again
I'm still so sick over the Georgia one. I can't get it out of my head. Every time I open my car door after it's been sitting out for awhile and I feel just how suffocating it is it makes me sick. Physically sick.
Every single time I put dd in the car I turn it on first and let it cool down. And my mind goes to that poor toddler

I can't with these stories anymore. I really can't.
You can flame away but I will NEVER understand forgetting your child in a car. NEVER, EVER, EVER.
My kids are my FIRST and ONLY priority and they are on my mind ALL of the time. I just can't wrap my head around forgetting your child. YOUR CHILD!!! A living, breathing human being. It's not like forgetting a mug of coffee or your backpack. How do you forget your baby???
Sorry, these stories make me utterly sick to my stomach. The thought of these babies sitting in sweltering cars dying a slow and horrible death because of their parents negligence is just too much. It breaks my heart.
That poor, sweet, innocent baby.
I completely agree.
