Items/Brands NOT worth getting

What items did you get and found were poorly made, useless or a gimmic, generic/another brand was better, etc.?

I agree.. mine didn't even work. Especially for baby diapers (BRU brand) were horrible.

Honeslty, I was not a fan of the wipes warmer. I used it maybe once and that was it.

ETA: I HATED the generic diapers. They seemed "rough".

- Bottle warmer was also a waste. It was easier to fill a coffee mug with hot water and let it warm up that way.

I highly recommend the infant to toddler rocker Rather then a bouncy chair. Bryan never had a bouncy. I started him right in the rocker and we still use it.
To me, they outgrow bouncy chairs too fast.

Re: Items/Brands NOT worth getting

I know reviews are mixed, but my rainforest swing is garbage and I am trying to get Fisher Price to give me a new one.

I was never able to go generic with diapers, always backfired. Target wipes though are the best.

I am a onsie person. He always wears them, the carters 5 set onsies get washed day after day and they are my necessity.

I am a believer in the Bumbo, it was the only thing he ever sat in.

ETA: from Walmart or Target, can't remember, I bought a 13.00 booster seat, I use it all the time! When we travel, to have him sit at the table and do arts and crafts...

Re: Items/Brands NOT worth getting

Gerber onesies, washcloths, pjs, burp cloths they SHRINK like crazy and aren't very durable and very thin.

Steam sterilizer-waste of $$, used it twice

Bottle/baby food warmer-used it once

I use my dishwasher and microwave for that.

I know some think it's a lifesaver, but I have to say swing-hardly used mine-i'm glad i returned my cradle swing for the credit and got a hand me down.

Not a fan of generic diapers at all. I do though LOVE Bj's ultra soft wipes.

HATE generic diapers. I gave away all those Eckerd ones. Not soft at all and just not like Pampers.

Love Kirkland (Costco) wipes.

Loved my FP Aquarium swing.

Used an Exersaucer and not a Jumperoo.

The protective cover for my computer & VCR/DVD player. Waste of money.

Also agree Kirkland (Costco) wipes are the best.

I thought i was the only one!!! I hate that darn swing.

I LOVE dd's wipe warmer and she now cries if i touch her with a cold one.

i would say avoid the bouncy seat dd hates it b.c its not stimulating enough.

dd loves her jumper

i love my stroller. I swore i would have a c-section so i went for a lighter stroller (i got a graco one in Devon) b.c i knew i would have to lift it in and out of my truck.

Re: Items/Brands NOT worth getting

I never used a wipe warmer, bottle warmer or steralizer - and I didn't miss them at all.

I love Costco wipes. I haven't had any problems with the generic diapers - DD actually had a reaction to the Pampers so now we use Luvs.

The biggest thing that I would say is that if I had to do it all over again, I would have started with generic formula instead of the Enfamil - I definitely plan on doing that with #2, I think that we would have saved a ton of money.

We used the swing, exersaucer and jumper all a lot. We used a walker at my moms and a pack and play in each house. We used a PNP with the bassinet in our bedroom instead of buying a bassinet and it worked out really well for us (when we were done it went to grandmas).

We received the bebe pod as a gift and didn't really use that at all.

I agree the wipes warmer was a waste.

DD LOVES the infant-to-toddler rocker. She did like her bouncy seat as well, but she has already grown out of that. The rocker we still use.

There was only a 2 month period where we actually used the swing...at first she was too small and hated it now she's too big and hates it...LOL!! Next time around I wouldn't have gottent the big swing...maybe just the travel swing.

Re: Items/Brands NOT worth getting

The Bumbo seat. My DD hated it. She would always scream whenever we put her in it. After a month of trying, I gave it to a co-worker of DH who's wife was expecting. They love it, go figure.
Never used a wipes or bottle warmer, and like others have said, never missed them.
I do however only use Pampers and Huggies...generic diapers didnt hold up well with my DD, but we do use generic wipes along with the Huggies brand ones.
And finally, I LOVE my diaper genie haha. It's the updated one, the diaper genie 2...now that DD is older, and her poops are getting stinkier lol, I guess its not as great as when she was an infant, but I am still happy that I have it.

Re: Items/Brands NOT worth getting

I HATED my bottle warmer. I will never use one again. A few seconds zapped in the microwave and thats that for me. It would take 5 full minutes to warm and then it would burn at the bottom of the warmer.

For anyone who has been there, you know that 5 minutes of a screaming baby is not fun. Although I do know not everyone uses the microwave...didn't bother me though!

-Also, never used the diaper genie. Found it to be a hassle.

-Hated generic diapers. He leaked through every one. And believe me, I wanted them to work! Not worth the extra amount of money I spent on detergent to wash his sheets and blankets and pants over and over!

I totally agree with Mich on the Gerber onesies and burb clothes, they run small to begin with and shrink even more!!

Any warmers or sterilizers werent used. what a waste,

I will say, I love the Costco brand diapers better than any name brand ones weve used.

Re: Items/Brands NOT worth getting

Never had a bottle warmer or wipe warmer - we put his bottles in a mug of hot water to warm them, and the wipes were cold from day one!

Never had anything for diapers except a plastic bag

Bumbo was a waste, and the only bouncy I recommend is the Boppy brand - he still uses it - its awesome!

Exersaucer was a waste - but he still loves his jumperoo

I personally loved his Boppy, but some people never used theirs

Never used the Swaddle me - he hated them

Gerbers clothing--almost none of it fit DS at all, even when he was well within their pound guidelines. Carters is good.

I can't stand my Diaper Champ--diapers get stuck all the time. Just get a covered pail.

I returned a sterilizer. You really don't need to sterilize the bottles everytime you use them--the dishwasher or soap and water is fine.

The Bumbo chair was a waste for us - his little chubby legs could hardly fit into it.

Never had any warmers (bottle or wipes)

Gave away my Diaper Dekor.

Must haves: Miracle Blanket, Tiny Love Mobile, Exercauser, Newborn to Toddler Rocker.
