I have been through something similar with my son. He needed a small procedure and I was more concerned about the anesthesia. They gave him a sedative and he was laughing since it made him loopy and then DH took him into the OR and they put a mask near his face and he was out, so that they could then do the IV. It was very quick and before you know it he was in recovery. It took him a bit to wake up, but once he fully woke up he was fine.
I was a wreck for the two weeks prior, but as soon as DH said they started I felt a huge sense of relief. I did feel bad that I was not there to bring him in, I felt like his mom should be there, but I would have made him more nervous and not sure I would have been able to remain calm.
Good Luck, it will be over before you know it.
Where is he having this done?
Stony Brook. Where was your son's procedure?

Awww Kelly. Just try to remember that this is the best thing for your little man. You wouldn't let anyone (or anything) stop you from BFing b/c you thought it was best. This is just another thing that is "best" for your baby. You will get through it, and so will he.
