IUI Questions
Questions for a friend:
Does it increase chances of multiples?
Is it covered by insurance if no baby after a year of trying? And what is the cost?
Do you have to stimulate the release of an egg with drugs or can you wait for natural ovulation?
And finally, has anyone ever tried this with any gender selection methods? (Trying to avoid passing on a hereditary disease)
Thanks for any questions that you can answer!

IUI Questions
I dont think it increases chances of multiples by much. but as u are being stimulated with oral meds (like clomid and lethrozol) and sometimes also with injectables which grow more follicles than during usual cycle i guess it does increase slightly. the release does get stimulated with Ovidrel injection usually or some other drug 36 hrs before the ovulation as the Dr trying to time the ovulation to the injection of sperm into the uterus. Basically trying to better the chances of everything coming together timely. not sure abt insurance or gender selection.

Re: IUI Questions
the meds increase the chance, not the iui so if unmedicated then odds do not increase
that depends on your insurance
you can do either, people do both

Re: IUI Questions
With IUI there is a slight increase of twins, but slight. I have heard someone more boys are conceived via iui statistically - because of the insem on ov day but ive also heard that girl sperm survive the wash better....so idk As far as cost - i am oop on all iui stuff but my dr has been really great and so far each cycle has only cost me $150.00 for sono & bld wrk and $50.00 for the actual IUI plus meds (about 200.00 percycle)
