IVF & Health Insurance ?
Does anyone know if it is covered? I just checked with my insurance and its not. And a lot of "mid level" procedures that would be done with a RE aren't covered either 
But then I heard that some people have IVF covered. If anyone is covered, can you let me know what insurance you have? I'm in the process of calling my DH's insurance to see what they will cover.

i was covered with UHC but it depends on the plan, they are all different. theres no standard that one insurance company covers it over another.

It really depends on your plan...they are all sooo different even if we both have the same insurance carrier we may have different coverage...I have GHI and 3 IVF cycles are covered up to 75% each time.

It depends on your plan an if your employer opted out of ivf or not. I have IF coverage that excludes ivf.

I have GHI and I can get IVF for a max of 3 cycles lifetime but that's only after medical review....I had to fit their criteria before it could be covered.
I hope you can find another plan thru ur DH's company that covers some of the procedures.

DH's insurance covers NO infertility treatments, none at all.
Mine covers very minimal procedures. I know DH will have to take that test where they test his sperm when I go see the RE, but we're going to have to pay for that since his insurance doesn't pay for it and he's not covered under my insurance. In order for me to add him to my insurance I would have to pay about $1300 a month currently, i'm only paying $100 just for me a month but its automatically taken out of my paycheck. we don't pay anything at all for DH's insurance.

Me too.
Me too... But I was told it was $10k per person, so im now inquiring to see whether or not they would bill ivf on just myself, or if they would split it 5k on myself and 5k on my dh... if we arent pregnant by june

as far as insurance goes if you have none or little coverage, try to get your REs office to code your appointments under treatment for a condition (ie. PCOS). i found that almost everything was covered when coded for PCOS instead of infertility (which i had no coverage for when we first started treatment). for IVF obviously the ER/ET which are the most expensive parts, wouldn't be covered at all, but maybe you could at least get the monitoring appointments covered.

This happened for me as well. When I had UHC ($10k max) i only went through a little bit of the money (like $2k) for IUIs as the years worth of monitoring and other crap was under a PCOS diagnosis.
Also, I then switched to my husbands' plan, Aetna, and they cover like 12k, followed by Cigna was was pretty similar I think.
Good Luck, and I highly suggest calling the reproductive or IF branch of your insurance company if there is one (i recall having to register for this group under UHC) as they we SUPER helpful in figuring out the dollars and cents part of it.

once he's on NYPD, his insurance will be GHI, and its 3 IVF's max covered at 75%.. and unlimited IUI's. hope this helps!
