IVF moms, if you are thinking of having another
So my are almost 5 months and DH and I have decided we want one more. I know, we are nuts!
Anyway, we we unexplained IF and ultimately had to do one round of IVF to get our boys (after 7 iuis and a miscarriage). We were very lucky that the first IVF worked for us as I was convinced (for no reason) it wouldn't.
The drs. have told us because we are unexplained, we could certainly get pregnant on our own and that has happened many times in cases. We decided to try for a year on our own and if nothing, I would do an FET. I have 6 frozen embies.
While I love my boys, I definitely don't want to risk twins again (we put 2 back for the fresh cycle). So we would just put one back. My only dilemma is that I know the success rate for FETs is lower than Fresh esp. if I am only putting one back.
Anyone else in the same boat? Thinking of another? or am I the only crazy one?

Re: IVF moms, if you are thinking of having another
You are not crazy! or we both are! however, I have not worked up the courrage to talk about this at home yet. I think I want another one, but with both girls being colicy etc. my dw says she is done. I think after they are a little bigger and not such babies she will change her mind. Not that I want to be prego again, or go through IF, but I want to raise one baby. It has to be so different then having 2.
I have 12 embies on ice. The girls are a procduct of our 4th IVF. 1=fresh, MC 2=frozen, nothing 3=frozen, MC 4=fresh, Lily and Alice
I would also only do 1 at a time. If we get there

Re: IVF moms, if you are thinking of having another
I say that all the time too-that it would be so easy with one-lol.
I actually loved being pregnant (except at the end when I developed an awful case of PUPPS, but that's a whole nother story)
That's my other issue-I don't feel like doing a bunch of cycles although I know the FET is much less work than the fresh cycle. Not to mention, I can't imagine the time involved with running back and forth to the RE now that I have two little guys at home. It was hard going for all those appts before I had them, I can't even imagine now. So the thought of having to do multiple single FETs is so discouraging. I mean it could work, but realistically I know the success rate is so much lower so I am mentally preparing myself that the first FET prob wouldn't work (although I am it does).
Wow, 12 embies on ice! That's great. Do you mind me asking how many you transferred each cycle?

Re: IVF moms, if you are thinking of having another
I did 2 per cycle. My last fresh cycle was amazing. I didnt over stim. 14 removed, 14 fertilized, 14 made it to day 5, it was crazy! my first they took out 23, I dont remember how many fertilized, but only 7 were mature at day 5. oh, so that means I have 13 on ice lol

Re: IVF moms, if you are thinking of having another
I did IVF for my boys and got pregnant naturally when they were 11mo (completely unplanned). I wound up having a MC but we were lucky enough to get pregnant immediately after the MC. I have 22mo twins and a newborn. We always knew we wanted 3-4 kids so we figured...why wait. We had unexplained IF and have 7 frosties. My OB said she sees tons of IVF'ers who get pregnant naturally after doing IVF. Things are def crazy in my house right now, but I wouldn't trade this for anything in the world.

Re: IVF moms, if you are thinking of having another
I did a fresh IVF cycle 3 years ago, we put back 2 and both took. We lost one at 8 weeks, but have a 2 year old son.
We decided we only wanted one more child, so we did a frozen single embryo transfer in January. Guess what? It resulted in twins, embryo split & I'm 12 weeks!
My RE said he hasn't seen an embryo split in a really long time, but it does happen!

Re: IVF moms, if you are thinking of having another
We would love one more but probably when the girls are two we will think about it. They are only 5 months now.
We just spoke about it last night. My Dh has male factor infertility and there was no reason. He will go have an SA when we are ready and see if anything has improved. If it has improved we will try on our own. If it has not improved we would do a fresh cycle since the girls were my last two embryos. Then would only put back one at a time.

Thanks ladies for your responses. I have a lot to think about! It just helps to bounce it off other people who have gone through the same thing.

I'm still very newly pregnant with my first 2 but we discussed thanif it's b/b or g/g we might try for a third. We would probably just put 1 back.
