Moms who had IVF the first time around..
If you have DC # 2, can you tell me about your experience TTC DC #2? Did you have embryos saved? Did it involve as much as the first IVF experience? Just trying to get an idea of what my future has in store for me Chat Icon Any feedback would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Moms who had IVF the first time around..
I was hoping that all the unsolicited advice about my body "readjusting itself" after having DS would be true... but it wasn't for me. I never ovulated on my own. I even lost 85 pounds. I never ovulated. So, we at first we went back to our frozen embryos for IVF again. DS was from that "batch" and we hoped a FET would work again. We had three frozen, and even though we only wanted to transfer two of them, they all ended up being defrosted because one did not make the initial thaw. The protocol for a FET is MUCH easier than a "fresh cycle." For me, it was just estrogen patches and PIO shots. It was successful, but I had an early miscarriage. So, the next time around we had to start from scratch with a fresh cycle. I initially got pg with triplets (even though we only transferred two), but one stopped growing at 8 weeks. Right now, I am almost 33 weeks along with identical twins!
Best of luck to you!

Well I had IVF 2nd time around, but when we went for #3, we used one of our frosties ( FET was a piece of cake in comparison to a fresh cycle) ...I am now one day away from having !

Re: Moms who had IVF the first time around..
DD was conceived after a failed fresh IVF with frozen embies on the first FET.
We had 3 left. when we were ready we scheduled the FET and only 1 survived the thaw. It did not take.
Did another fresh IVF... had OHSS and a bunch of complications I didnt have the first time. Only had 3 embies to transfer and only one was really strong..... Im 34 weeks with DD #2 from that one!

Re: Moms who had IVF the first time around..
Interesting: I'm thinking of the same thing myself.
I have 2 in the freezer, but I'm praying that a miracle intervenes & I don't have to use them.... which them brings up the ? of what to do with them.

How does the "thaw" work? What determines if one survives? I am so new to this! We have 6 frozen (I think). I am meeting with my RE next month to get an idea of what I'm in for!

Re: Moms who had IVF the first time around..
DS was from our first IVF cycle. It ended up taking 4 FET's to get pregnant with this one (one BFN cycle and 2 early m/c's). I thought for sure it would be just as "easy" the second time around and it would work on the first FET but it wasn't the case.

Re: Moms who had IVF the first time around..
I guess I am in the minority but I had tried for 2 years and done IVF 3 times in order to get pregnant with my son.
without even trying (well just not preventing b/c after all that who thought I would ever get pregnant on my own!?) we conceived #2 naturally when #1 was just 8 months old.
GOOD LUCK
