Jack got his tongue snipped yesterday
Well, not the actually tongue but the piece of skin underneath it. He was tongue tied.
Anyway, it was a very fast procedure but I have to say that it was complete and utter torture for both me and DH. Poor DH had to hold Jack down and keep gauze under his tongue. Jack was flipping out. It was just awful.
I am so thankful it is done and Jack was back to him old self in the car ride home thank god. He was so cute - his little mouth was all full of blood and he was still smiling. My heart was melting.
It just makes you appreciate having a healthy baby so much even when you have to go through such a little procedure like that. You want to protect them from everything in the world. I literally was holding onto him so tight last night that if I could have frozen that moment forever I would have done so.

You are so right, thankfully it was a minor thing but still so upsetting to watch I'm sure. So glad the little guy is ok!!!!!

DS had his snipped at 9 days old. It was torture for me, but I'm glad it's done and over with.

Wow...I can't believe the dr. did it so young. DS is 5 months and his dr. said that they only snip it if it is a prolem for feeding and for speech. They have found it doesnt always need to be snipped. I had it when I was younger and mine was snipped in the hospital right away, they wouldnt do that for DS. I am going to ask the dr. about it tomorrow at his 5 mo. check-up.

My ped recommended me to an ENT specialist (and said I should do it after he turned 2 months) The specialist took one look at his tongue and said it needed to be done. You can really do it at any time - but he said it's easier to do it when they are this age. He said if you don't get it when the kid is young enough they will then have to put them under general anesthsia.
He also said that Jack's was very severe and would cause him problems down the road with speech.
Maybe your sons isn't as bad as his?

Lots of hugs! It is better that he got it done now.. I had it done a few years ago! I wish my mon did it when I was a baby! He should be feeling better really soon! Just shower him with kisses!
