Re: Jamie Lynn Spears & Maddie Briann
I think she is making the best of a Sh**y situation. i was a teenage mother, and being a mother was- even as a teenager, the best thing in my life, and still is. I think it really depends on who you are and how you handle the situation. HOpefully she will take whatever money she got from the mag and put it into an account for her daughter and not end up like her sister. hopefully the article will also tell the hardships of being a young mother and what she had to give up, but for her to say its the best thing- i dont think there is anything wrong with that.

Re: Jamie Lynn Spears & Maddie Briann
It's starting to feel like she has a contract with OK magazine. She was on the cover to accounce her pregnancy and now she's on the cover with her new baby.
Just a bit odd to me.

I agree. I was a teenage mother too. Having my DS was (and always will be) the best thing that happen to me.
I truly hope that she does the right thing and mention how it's not all sunshine and rainbows.

Maddie is so cute.... , but this is just wrong......she is a TEENAGER that just had a baby...why make it seem like a wonderful thing to be a teenage mom...
My sentiments exactly. Honestly, even though the baby is , the whole situation makes me sad.

Re: Jamie Lynn Spears & Maddie Briann
I just think, this girl has been a mom for two seconds. give it some time; give HER some time. but this is how mags are. You go on one date, you're getting married. You are married one month, and the mags are predicting you're preg. I think they are portraying her making the best of it...and that's not wrong, but I hate how the industry calls it all wine and roses and peachy and she just popped the baby out!

Re: Jamie Lynn Spears & Maddie Briann
I blame any glorification of her pregnancy on the media and poor guidance from her mother.
Her mom negotiated an agreement with OK! to sell her story after the baby was born before she even publicly announced that she was pregnant.
I think Jamie Lynn laid pretty low during her pregnancy. She stayed in her home town, got her GED, went to her pregnancy classes, and minded her own business. She certainly wasn't out in the press saying "Look at me, I'm a teen and pregnant!" - and rightly so.

COMPLETELY inappropriate to glorify this situation, which I think the family and magazine are doing.

Re: Jamie Lynn Spears & Maddie Briann
Is that baby a boy or a girl? The name is a bit ambiguous(sp?).
ETA... I guess it's a girl, I saw her in a pink outfit.
Oh..... Bree Anne, not Brian? I thought she was being funny and spelling Brian with 2 'Ns'. My sister is Brianne, I guess I'm used to that spelling.
Cute baby though!

Cute baby.
But something about all of this is still sitting wrong with me.
I'll reserve judgement until I read the whole article, but it still feels like it's saying that teen pregnancy is fun.

From the article:
"They'd told me it would be an eight- to 12-hour labor, and I was ready to have the baby in three to four hours," Jamie Lynn tells OK!. "I had a perfect pregnancy and a perfect delivery. I was very blessed."
"She is very good," says Jamie Lynn. "She'll feed every two or three hours. When she wakes up in the middle of the night, I'll feed her and she goes right back to sleep. There's no screaming and crying."
Come on...tell it like it really is!

I wasnt a teen mom, but I was preg. @ 20yrs old, and you bet your @ss I "glorified" the situation- my baby is and ALWAYS will be THE BEST THING THAT EVER HAPPENED TO ME!!!!!
Ive learned that age means nothing- its all about maturity. I blow some "aged" moms out of the water, with all that I provide for my child.
We already know she has the $$$ to provide for the child, so as long as she has the love and patience- who cares if she is a teen mom.
What should she have done- had an ABORTION?
IMO- that wouldve been far worse, and even more irresponsible.

What I'm saying is that it's NOT going to be that easy for the girls who are sadly aspriing to be her. So why put it out there? The article, the publicity, her actions, her familiy's actions...all irresponsibility. The last thing that should happen is sugarcoating a very difficult situation. When she says the labor was a breeze and that the baby doesn't cry, I'm sorry, that is sugarcoating it.

I don't think anyone is saying that at all.
Listen, going through what I and many others on this board went through to have a baby I think that any and every baby is a welcome miracle.
But at the same time I worry what the portrayal of teen pregnancy being all easy and superfun says to some teens out there.
Yes, Juney, parents should have the talk with their children, but not all do.
And the ones that don't are the ones that generally need it most because they don't have open conversations with their parents and in the absence of that, they look to anyone else - even a "celebrity". ESPECIALLY if that celebrity is making it everything look better from their end.
I just hope that at some point she makes it a point to say "Yes, this is the best thing that ever happened to me, and I love being a mom, but I don't think this is for everyone and it's not always easy."
That's all.
The more she talks about how it fulfills her and completes her and is so easy and fun, the more I see teenage girls saying "Hey, sign me up!"

Ofcourse why wouldnt it be anything more perfect. More postive reinforcement. I understand that some babies are easier, but this is just adding to how this whole situation is jsut candies and roses.
This article stinks.
