Re: Jersey Shore- am i the only one?
I agree with the OP in a sense but I do not think that salaries in this society are generally fair. Salaries do not always represent how hard someone works or the skill level involved. I can't wait until they do the "where are they now" stuff on TV and we see what these kids look like when they are 50. Let's hope they manage their money well.

I havent seen the show and dont want to. I cant get over how many friends i have on FB who were all going nuts over the premiere.
you're right..society these days just values the wrong kind of stuff and its very sad.
hopefully these dip shits are just getting their 15 min of fame and will be washed up in a few years.

Re: Jersey Shore- am i the only one?
Thats because the entertainment industry always pays regardless of education. Thats just how it is and will always be. As "uneducated" as the JS cast may be, people find them entertaining and they will continue to get paid to party.
I wouldnt be surprised if they dont even make payments on their cars. Free advertisements bring business.
Besides this is all short term. They're only in their 20's. Bet they're not as successful 10/15 years from now. Then what??

don't bother me... Those people get paid for my entertainment... and entertained I am...
ITA ... There are many other things in life and American society I'm enraged about. Jersey Shore is not one of them. To each his own.
doesn't bother me either.
i'm with you guys...
people that don't make even half of what they do drive around in BMWs.
Are they overpaid? Of course. But that's just the way it is. Most entertainers are. If I was making what they were making, I'd have a luxury car too.

Could care less about their cars or how much they make.
And if there is one thing I've learned, you definitely can't tell how much a person makes, their status or what their lifestyle is like by the car they drive... be it a Neon or a Bentley.

ITA. I remember growing up in an upper middle class neighborhood with a 20 year old station wagon b/c my parents could care less about cars. And then we'd drive through more impoverished areas and see souped up cars out front. It means nothing. I don't watch b/c I can't stand them and don't get the appeal, but I could care less what they make. If they are smart, they'll be okay. If not, they'll be nobodies in a few years.

Re: Jersey Shore- am i the only one?
I am really confused about why people wouldn't think they would have nice cars?
We are well aware of how much they make....this is the 3rd season, they get apparence fees etc
I would expect them to have all bought new cars and in reality only half of the did

Re: Jersey Shore- am i the only one?
There are many jobs that people take and they take them knowing full well they will never be millionaires or well off, regardless of how much education they receive.
You pick your job because you love to do it, some people pick a job because they want to make a lot of money.
You can't cry that your a teacher and its a noble job and you will never drive a BMW. Everyone chooses their choice in life in what they want to be. There will always be someone who is richer, thinner, prettier then the next person its just how it is. You can't get upset over it

I don't think she was confused about why they had nice cars, I think she was *venting* that people like them are making more money than her for being idiots...I think she understands that its supply and demand, but just venting that we give these idiots their money by watching them. (I think that's what she was trying to say). I can understand that frustration it happens all the time though, but you can still be annoyed by it.

Re: Jersey Shore- am i the only one?
I was thinking about this too. They're getting paid handsomely for being in their early 20s...partying, having fun, like many kids their age do. however, they're 15 minutes will be up soon and they're going to be infamous for this in a couple of years! It might be really though for them to find jobs and start careers. I hope they're being smart an putting some of their money away!
I have to admit though, I do love watching the show! Look forward to it every week lol

So i was watching the premiere of JS and one thing i noticed right off the bat were the cars each of the "castmates" were driving. Certainly an upgrade.
This pizzed me off. And im to the point where i might not even watch this show anymore.
*** is wrong w/ our society? These MORONS who contribute ABSOLUTLEY F*CKING NOTHING to society are making more $ than i will ever see in my lifetime. This all to bang whoever they want, drink, and sound like uneducated azzholes.
Im a teacher, and dont get me wrong, i am very happy and i do well, but my DH and i do NOT drive BMWs and prob never will (bc we cant afford to). But 3 of these idiots are driving around in new BMWs.
Districts all over the island are laying off teachers. Talented, EDUCATED teachers. They will have to find ways to make money. But again, these idiots have millions.
We value the wrong things in this culture and sometimes quite honestly, it makes me SICK
ETA: i am NOT AT ALL jealous of these kids. I guess i was mainly trying to just explain how F'ed up our society is that we pay people the $ these kids are getting paid to do NOTHING agree 100%

Re: Jersey Shore- am i the only one?
I actually think they should get the money they are getting for acting like fools and entertaining dh and I every week. Its not meant to be taken seriously. They put themselves out there and act like morons and the audience eats it up. Mtv makes a ton of money off of them and they deserve to be paid.

Re: Jersey Shore- am i the only one?
I know what you mean. Do I think they're overpaid for doing absolutely nothing? Absolultely. But I also think most, if not all, celebrities (even the talentless reality show/trashy ones ) are waaaaaay overpaid. It's insane to me that movie stars and athletes make the money they do but this is the world we live in .
But the JS cast sure does liven up my Thursday night

Ah, I could have had a show in my Jersey shore days. Oh the drama. But the difference is I would want my privacy and not want to make an A$$ of myself on TV for the world to see.

Trust me I am NOT crying. You dont have to be rude. i am VERY happy and i love my job. Its so obvious that some replies on here just love to be rude and have to have a comment. AGAIN, my point was that we as a society sometimes value the wrong things. I couldnt care less in the end that the drive BMWs. I personally dont care about material things like that.

I vowed to not watch this season. I can't stand it.
*And I totally get that reality tv people make money...but doesn't change the fact that its annoying, lol!
