As long as there is love and respect, whoa re we to judge how many kids they have. I think its great that the other kids are pitching in and helping out around the house, it SHOULD be that way!

WOW. I read that and I have to say, It doesn't surprise me. I tend to believe it. As I said above, I find the whole family VERY cultish. I really think Alice is on to something and I agree. Scroll down on the comments to read Alice's...I think she makes some really interesting points that are also very disturbing.
I find it very odd that the children bathe the other children. That creeped me out from the start. For those who don't have time to read the comments on the blog, one of their oldests sons has supposedly been accused of molesting his sisters. I have to say, I don't find this so hard to believe, I really don't. Sure it could be false, but I find the whole family dysfunctional so I don't find it so absurd either.
Bottom line, I thought this family was insane and I don't think the way they treat their children is right. Now I feel even more strongly about that after reading this blog.   The whole situation is creepy and weird IMO. It just is, I gotta go with my gut on this.

She spends no time cooking or cleaning. The other children do it all.
I think it's sad for them. They, most likely, don't even have friends outside their family. They are all home schooled. 
this is what I have a problem with. The older children had their entire childhood taken away from them, and they had zero say in the matter.

I'm sorry I just don't see any reason for this! Those poor older kids end up being parents... I don't think you should have more kids than you can give your undivided attention to.. thats JMO though.

I agree. The father just seems creepy to me.
I think they lost me when they "built their own house." With little to no skills as far as house bulding goes.
And those kids cannot be happy.

Hmm, "Alice" either has a lot of inside info, or a lot of hate towards the Duggars. Who knows what is true. The Duggars claim the meetings they get paid for at their house are are for the financial freedom seminar that they follow & endorse.
The original blogger though, says that the kids don't have any regular toys, etc. that is not true. This person saw the early specials in the old house. There are pictures of their new house on the Duggar website, and they have a pool table, an arcade style video game, a foosball table, a computer, chess sets, a slide in their house ( ok, maybe that's not normal) Who knows how much they get to play with this stuff, but its not like they don't know what toys/games are.

I am glad that all their kids are healthy and they have found a way to care for them.
It might not work for ME... but what the eff do I know? I don't see how I can sit on a computer and decide that someone elses family doesn't work properly just because it isn't up to my standards.
As to the older kids cooking and cleaning, etc.. - my older sisters took care of me and my little sister for some time when they were teenagers and my family only had 5 kids. When I was older I learned to cook, clean and help out around the house. My kids already clean up and help with dinner prep at 5 & 7. We all contribute. I really don't see anything wrong with that.

Congrats to them though. I guess...I mean a child is a blessing...but...I just honestly do not know how I feel about this. Big families are great and alll...
But there ARE ways to prevent getting pg w/out birth control unless they truly want to keep expanding the family. Who knows...

If they can provide for their children more power to them. The only thing I think about is how much attention could they all be getting? I mean you can just give 17 (soon to be 18) kids just so much individual attention.
Not to mention, if I remember correctly the older children help out with taking care of the younger kids, so what kind of childhood/young adulthood does that give them?
Oh well, to each their own.
My points exactly. They use their older kids to help with the youngest kids.
I have no problem teaching kids to do shores in the house but they are no parent subs because the parents are too busy trying to repopulate the planet.
I feel it's totally unfair to the other kids.
