what do you think is most annoying answer for why you didn't receive an offer?

I've heard so many, it's not funny!

I applied for a job that had been posted for a MONTH. The HR person interviewed me and it went well. she said she wanted to talk to the department head to schedule a meeting and would be in touch within the next two days but if i don't hear from her then i should follow up. i follow up with her once and she says she keeps missing the department head. she finally gets back to me and says 'oh we're shifting around and not hiring now.'

I got the same reply today regarding a position i really wanted. They told me this after I interviewed with 6 people!!!

'Oh we're very impressed with you but after some thought we decided to shift our focus. We want someone who has different sorts of skill so we are looking to start a new job hunt... blah blah!"

So instead of trying to persuade them that I do have those skills I just tell them 'oh, that's too bad, well wish you good luck starting up your new job search for this candidate.' :P

It's so infuriating dealing with companies who have unrealistic expectations!

We have decided to hire internally.
I did not hear it, but, my sister did for a receptionist job. They are possibly going with their old receptionist.
And, what's most likely to happen?
The old receptionist may quit again!!

I put change in job descrip. b/c I feel like they should clearly know their needs and be able to foreceast their needs appropriately before even posting a job, but so few places do.

How about having 3 interviews from January - May for a HUGE company and then being told that one of the Managers resigned, so now they are going back to the drawing board, hiring that position first and then we'll touch base with you!

Wow, that's tough! Are you still working in the meantime? Some of these huge companies are so bureacratic and unreasonable though aren't they? Do they think you'll still be available in a few months time after they have hired that manager? :P

The one interview I had recently... where I was scheduled for a 2nd interview, talked numerous times to them and they even emailed me the medical benefits info in detail. I thought for sure I had a great shot at the job. They called 3 days before the interview to say they had bad news, that they are restructuring and they are no longer hiring for that position in this area and that if a position opens up they will call me. Yeah right! I'm on the fence on whether or not I believe them since all their Admin jobs were suppose to be transferred down here so they techinically were new positions so I can see where the company could of changed their minds? I don't know... job searching SU@KS!!! I'm still looking and I'm not having any luck.
