johnsons head to toe wash and shampoo are rated a 5 on a scale 1-10 .. it carries plaetes(sp)
also costco and bjs wipes are poor and the best rated at a 0 are seventh generation wipes

I look at it - it didn't kill us as we were kids, how bad can it really be?

I do feel though that there are more cases of cancer and other diseases now then before so this can all be a factor in that.
I figure, better safe then sorry.

YES, things and companies DO change. J & J was a smaller company, manufactured everything in the US back then. Now, some of their stuff is made overseas.

BJs and Costco wipes are poor in performance or poor because they contain chemicals?
Please post the source.

Thanks! I googled it-is that basically Skin deep-cosmetics database?
I searched for J&J and all the name brand wipes like huggies, pampers, target, cvs, Kirkland and they all score in the moderate range 3-6-whatever they consider moderate range for what, toxicity? toxins? cancer causing? What's their rating scale based on?
I hate this, i really hate these things and these studies making me 2nd guess that i'm not doing what's best for my kids. sometimes i feel we are taking steps back with modern conveniences than moving forward.

Re: johnsons shampoo not good!
I try to use the lower level products for stuff like lotions & bath soap. I figure why not. I use California Baby sold at Target usually but also use J & J bed time bath wash.
There was an article in a paper recently (MIL cut it out so not sure what paper) it basically said Dr.'s don't agree but that some ingredients are harmful in higher doses. I think it also has to do with absorption. If your soaking in a tub, lotions but not so much for things like shampoo & toothpaste.

I don't stress too much about stuff like this. He is not ingesting it and if he does ingest the water there is such a small amount.

Re: johnsons shampoo not good!
I can't be bothered freaking out over this.
With all the issues with the lead paint in the toys, the boppy's and bumbos gone bad and the big NO NO of the heating of the toxic, non-BPA bottles, I think I am going to let the J&J "5" rating slide

Re: johnsons shampoo not good!
we really dont know a lot of things about cancer, if only it would be that easy as not using a shampoo... I freaked out about lots of things in the beginning but right now I just refuse to be paranoid about some things...

Thanks for posting the link--I'm trying to avoid exposing DS to this stuff.
No, these shampoos did kill us, but was this chemical in them? Also, this affects fertility in men I believe, so look at all the people who have a hard time conceiving these days. So no, they didn't kill us, but it's possible they did harm us.

I think that mostly everything that is not organic/all natural has the potential to harm people but what can we do be afraid of everything?
As for issues such as conception I think there are many other things that contribute to this but that's for another board.
