Just a worried TTC lurker needing to vent UPDATE & QUES
Okay so Im a big lurker on here but waaay too shy to ever post, but Im so overwhelmed right now, Im hoping I could get your girls advice.
I have a ridiculous amount of TTC things going on all at one here.
This is the first month DH and I are TTC. I am 10 DPO today and both last nite (9DPO) and this morning I took a HPT with FR and got a faint positive line both times. Normally, I would very excited, but after reading all the girls stories on here about chemical pregnancies, I am completely paranoid and worried Im gonna end up crushed if that is what it is. I read that a large % of first pregnancies detected early can be chemical so Im very worried.
Im having slight AF like cramps on and off for the past 3 days and Im afraid that means something bad My AF is not due until Monday and I feel like its the longest wait of my life!
Secondly, being the TTC newbies that DH and I are, we ended up BD'ing everyday for like 6 days straight during O time, and that ended up with me with a horrible urinary AND yeast infection...both a which I am on medicine for.
To make matters worse, I went to the GYN during all this to get my check-up and even though she knew I had these infections, she performed my yearly pap test.
Well yesterday she left me a voicemail saying to call her back about my test results, so now I KNOW it means I got an abnormal result. I am freaking out over what that even means. All I can think is...HPV? Cancer?? Is it possible the infection could have affected the pap smear?
I called her back twice today and still waiting to hear
Sorry to vent to you girls, but I dont know where else to turn since DH and I TTC is being kept on the low right now .
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
UPDATE: Hi girls. Its AF due day for me (Monday) and so far, so good. As of last nite , I was still testing positive on the FR tests and the pink lines seems to be getting stronger and appearing quicker. So Im just praying and keeping my fingers crossed!!!
My GYN appt is this Thursday morning and I have a question.
When they do a blood test in the office to test to see if you are pregnant, do the results come back right away, or do I have to wait ???
Thanks girls!!

Re: Just a worried TTC lurker needing to vent
Well, if its any consolation, when I was pregnant with DS, I didn't even know - I thought I was really badly premenstrual because the symptoms were horrific - so this COULD be the real deal!!!!
Good luck!!!

Re: Just a worried TTC lurker needing to vent
I had a lot of cramping before BFP...
As for the abnormal pap - did you get it during the time you were BDing? You shouldn't have sex before having a pap, it can mess up the results. You probably had a few abnormally shaped cells and they want you to come in to re-test. Also are you taking suppositories for the yeast infection - if you had a pap while you were on that, it can also mess up the test.

your doctor could be calling you back to say you are pregnant... doesnt it normally take 2 weeks to get pap results?

Re: Just a worried TTC lurker needing to vent
I just wanted to add that I had HPV - I'm negative now, but had the full treatment - colposcopy, cryo, etc - and I'm fine - thats why we get those paps, to detect abnormalities and then fix them - its very, very, VERY treatable - and its not such a major thing in most cases where it can't wait until after your baby...

I agree. Also wanted to mention that just one abnormal pap is not really reliable. they'll want to retest you. Abnormal = something is wrong.
Congratulations on your pregnancy! You read about the negative statistics all the time, but in truth the majority of pregnancies go on to produce happy, healthy babies!!! I was very crampy before and after getting a BFP. It's normal, there's lots going on down there. Try to relax and stay positive - stop googling and enjoy it! You're pregnant!

Re: Just a worried TTC lurker needing to vent
Cramping is completely normal. I had really bad AF-like cramps a few days before I got my BFP. I had cramping on and off throughout my first trimester.
I can't offer any advice about abnormal pap smears, but I hope everything turns out ok.

Re: Just a worried TTC lurker needing to vent
Oh my gosh, she just called! Writing this thread brought me luck b/c she called my cell 10 minutes later!
Okay good news and bad news. The bad news is, she wants me to come back for a biopsy b/c she said she thinks it could be HPV She said it could have been dormant in my system for years and just now its become inflammatory. The good news is she said shes 99% certain from the original pap test that it doesnt look like anything that could be cancerous but she wants to test just in case.
When I went for my Pap, I was only 3 DPO, so I had no idea if I was pregnant or not at the time, but I did tell her I was trying.
When she called just now I told her I took a FR test this morning and last nite and got a positive. She sounded surprised and then said to come in next Thursday for a blood test to see if I am pregnant.... and then from there we will talk about what to do about my pap smear. So it seems shes putting the biopsy on hold now that she knows I might be pregnant.

Re: Just a worried TTC lurker needing to vent
oh my!! so much going on for you.
Congrats on your pregnancy! you tested positive twice - you're pregnant.
are you thinking because you tested positive @ 9 days that it's chemical ?(atleast that is what it sounds like to me) Don't worry about that, i'm sure everything is fine. when you test + has nothing to do with what will happen.
Sorry to hear about the HPV, but it sounds like your doctor has a plan and everything will be ok.
please stop by and let us know how everything is going!

Re: Just a worried TTC lurker needing to vent
OK I just read the update. It is not unheard of to get a biopsy when PG. It sounds like your Dr is on top of things & that you are in good hands.
Try to relax (easier said than done, I know) and wait to see what they say at your appointment.

just so you know, i had an abnormal pap when i went in for my first prenatal visit. i didn't get a biopsy (i would strongly suggest doing your research if your doctor wants you to do that while PG) but i did get a colposcopy - basically they just look at your cervix with a strong magnifying lens. they found nothing abnormal.
i got faint BFPs at 10 and 11 DPO and they got progressively darker. i am now 38 weeks PG. it's so easy to stress about "what if" but the reailty is that nothing you do now (other than drugs ) is going to change whether this is a healthy, viabile pregnancy, so try to relax and enjoy it. you are pregnant!!!

Thank you
I dont think shes going to do the biopsy if in fact my blood test does confirm Im pregnant. I think thats why she was surprised when I told her about my POAS test coming back positive because then she was like , okay, we need to change our route of going about and taking care of things.

Re: Just a worried TTC lurker needing to vent
The cramping is probably completely normal. I'm 9 weeks & I still get cramping.
As for the prescriptions, don't worry about what you took before you knew you were pregnant. You can't change it now & in all likelyhood, you haven't done any damage. If you're still taking them, I'd call your Gyn & speak to her about what you should do next because I know most (if not all) YI medications aren't recommended for pregnancy.

Re: Just a worried TTC lurker needing to vent
Congrats! Try not to stress too much- she probably just wants to speed up finding out exactly what caused your abnormal pap since you are pregnant.
Don't waste this time worrying about a chemical- what will happen will happen either way, so try to focus on the incredible happiness I am sure you are feeling!

BUMP for Update :) Thanks
Congrats again!
This question is probably best for the PG boards! They'll be better able to tell you what to expect for your first appointment
