Just got back from Lancaster and ate at Millers Smorgasbord.. My review
I thought it was awful!! I read on here so many of you say how much you loved it, so we decided to try it. I'm really shocked it so crowded all the time. I would compare it to sizzler, but would have to say sizzler is probably better. I do not like all you can eat type places but thought it would be good amish food. The mashed potatoes tasted like they where from the box. Rolls where from a bag, chicken was dry, etc... It was not cheap either. Could of had a better meal some where else. I'm guessing at one time the food was good authentic amish food, but the place has gotten very commercial. Worse meal of the trip.

I think anything that has smorgasbord in the title is in the "out of desperation" category. Jmho

I am so happy you posted this! I never wrote this but we had the same experience. We went 2 years ago and thought it was awful too!!!! Everyone raves so I thought it was just us!

I know I just don't understand. I kept thinking, what are we missing. How can anyone think this is good homemade Amish food.

We went to the Good and Plenty once (my parents thought we should try it because it is always so crowded that we must be missing something...) and will never go back...I hate family style when I have to sit with people I don't know and the food wasn't great and the waitress couldn't be bothered with us! I'd rather go to a regular old restaurant!

I never posted anything, I actually just did a search on here while I was down there. There was a post about good amish food in Lancaster. I just went off everyone reviews. Trip Advisor had great reviews too.

I don't think it's that bad. I have been eating there since I was a little kid though so maybe it's the nostalgia. Their fried chicken is amazing.

i think that was the one we went to and we weren't all that impressed.
i think we may be going back to dutch wonderland in august and was thinking of going to good n plenty or bird in a hand..
not sure if that is the name.
they are prob all the same . overhyped sizzler

Completely sleeve me out too. We typically don't o buffets but figured this would be an exception.

I didn't think it was that bad! Normally buffet places skeeve me but I thought it was clean and had good options when I went. However, I only had soup/salad/bread and didn't really try much else. I did sample the mashed potatoes and agree with you...
My huband had the fried chicken and said it was really good...
I agree though with it not being traditional "amish". It was a glorified buffet place, nothing special. I have heard the breakfast there is incredible, I would have rather tried it for that...I love breakfast buffets, dinner not so much..

i dont like those buffet places either, when we go to Lancaster and want "amish" typ food we eat one night at Plain and Fancy, which isnt a buffet, its sit down. I think its much better than the other places around there.
