We didn't try for a girl exactly - but I thought I was going to O one day before I actually did so I ended up using the Shettles method without meaning to - which was nice since I did want a girl.

But I wouldn't use any other method (IVF/PGD) to do that unless there was a medical reason, like an inherited disease, to do so.

No! I believe you get what your given and to just be blessed to have a child, I think to many people worry about gender.

I did use WebMd's try for a girl & try for a boy. It happened to work for me. I'm not sure I'd attribute it to the site.

There is some science to it which I think slightly skews a 50/50 as to help X or Y chromosome containg sperm get fertilize the egg first.

But if your DH doesn't have Ys & has an overabundance of Xs, you're having a girl & vice versa.

To answer the question, I wouldn't select gender as in go through IVF & choose boy or girl. I would read a book on it & give it a shot (ack pun...)

ITA-I gave it a shot when TTC DD. TCOYF outlines how to increase the odds of having a girl or boy and I used that "strategy" to have a girl, DD.

Did it again when we started TTC for our next child, but after a few months, it wasn't fun and we threw it out the window and just tried to get pregnant.

If we try for #3, I think I would read up on the Shettles method. I would love a daughter. However, I would be beyond thrilled to have another son. In the end, I just want a happy and healthy baby.

No, I wouldn't, because I truly don't care either way. I would love to have another girl for DD to have a sister and i'd also love to experience having a son.
