When you are going out for the day, do you get the kids ready and dressed first or do you get yourself together and then get them ready?

It was so much easier when I got her ready and put her in her chair. LOL

Now I dress her and do her hair first and then I get ready..but in the meanwhile shes flying around, pulling out her hair, etc. So I am thinking maybe I should be the one who gets ready first. I cant believe shes gonna be 3 and I STILL question things like this.

I mean on the weekends, not weekdays getting ready for work.

DD is 19 months, but here is what I do.

If I have to go out and DH is not here, I shower, dry my hair and dress myself first.

I put on her shows and let her play around in the bathroom too.

It's much easier to get myself ready first, IMO.

DD's almost 2.5. I usually get her dressed first, then I get ready, then just before we go out I'll do her hair and she puts her shoes on.

Re: Just wondering....what do you do first? Older toddler moms..

We've always gotten DS ready first in the morning. He wakes up, has his milk and then we get him ready. Afterward, DH and I take turns entertaining him while the other one showers and gets ready. On days where DH or I are not around in the morning to switch off, we just close all the doors to rooms that we don't want DS in without us, put on Nickelodeon or Noggin and get ready then. We're fortunate that DS is VERY good at entertaining himself for a few minutes.

ETA: DS is 22 mos.

I get myself ready, and then get Noah dressed and out the door. Thats the best way for us.

I'm always up before they are up.

It's very rare that DH isn't here on a weekend morning but if he is, I'm up at 5, dressed and ready to make breakfast before they get upChat Icon at no later than 6.

This morning, at 5:55 am, my son suggested, "Mommy bake cookies"Chat Icon Chat Icon

I get ready first and then get my 3 ready. I do have all the clothes out the night before. My 1st ds can get dressed onhis own so no problem. My DD will be 4 in NOv. She can get dressed but it just takes too long when I'm trying to get out of the house forwork. Once thse 2 are dressed I get my 2 yr old dressed and we are off. I am very lucky that my itter feeds them breakfast for me.

On the weekdays I get up and get ready before DH leaves (usually before they get up or at least before we take them out of the crib.) On weekends it totally depends. If DH is home I take out their clothes, shower and DH dresses them. He takes a shower while I get ready and the kids hang with me in the room or watch TV.

If I'm alone I try to get up before they do or shower while DS is taking his morning nap and DD will play in the bathrooom while I shower or watch a DVD. I just shower with the door open and do it fast LOL.

I get myself dressed first and give her breakfast. Otherwise her clothes would be messed up by the time I am done, she would be a mess.

Re: Just wondering....what do you do first? Older toddler moms..

Julia will be 4 in July, I get her and Todd Jr ready first before I get done, its easier for me cause once I'm done we can head out. Julia never get messy or touches her hair once I do it, I guess she's use to me telling her to stay clean 100 times---lol Even on the weekend with DH home, I get the kids ready first then I get ready so DH can watch them and I can get a brake.

I always get myself ready first. I take my shower about the same time every day. Some days I throw PJ's back on and other days I fully get dressed but if I don't get myself showered and ready then well it might never happen.

If I am going somewhere that I *care* what I look like Chat Icon I will wake up b/f the time when DS wakes up - shower, blow dry my hair, and be basically dressed by the time I wake him up. Otherwise, it's a toss up depending on how cooperative DS is being that day....

Re: Just wondering....what do you do first? Older toddler moms..

DH works nights so I always get up and dressed by 6:30. Then I get my DD (4) up and then DS(1) bc she can entertain herself after the bath, he will burn the house down...
