Older toddler question..

Do you have to repeat back everything your toddler says to you?

Megan is OBSESSED with having me say exactly what she says. If I dont say it back to her, she will sit there and repeat it forever..unless its a question.

For example, today she told me "Mama look, a new little bear." So I said..Oh wow, thats great! She kept saying the same sentence OVER AND OVER until I said back to her exactly what she said.

This happens all day long. I am not sure if its because sometimes I still cant understand everything she says and it frustrates her or if its just her personality.

Does anyone elses toddler do this??

Ella does that. Not all the time or all day long, but she will continually repeat things if she wants me to say it back to her.

I think its because she wants to make sure I understand what she said.

No, but he often repeats everything I am saying. Which cracks me up.

Cailen will be 2 on Saturday and has been doing this for months!!! He insists on me repeating, but I don't always know what he is saying - so he gets mad at me!!! Sometimes I repeat it exactly the way he says it, ad that makes him mad too because it's not what he means and he knows I don't understand!!!
